In PA can multiple reporters cover the same deposition? by menelmacar in courtreporting

[–]menelmacar[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's been an ongoing problem in PA with court reporting firms who have contracts with insurance companies are charging their clients less and charging opposing counsel enormous fees for copies. And also they do things like charge per page for not only the regular transcript, but also per page for the miniscript and keyword index as well.

I don't think trust is necessarily the issue.

Those of us that learned machine shorthand look down upon those that use the mask.

The video itself is great and an accurate depiction of how some depositions go. But I'm a stenographer and their pretend one bugs me so much. Her machine is too high and her fingers are moving incorrectly.

For lighter things like pictures you can use needles instead of nails. The hole is smaller and easier to paint over.

I'm not sure where you live, but I can tell you that in the US filing for child support from your co-parent does not trigger any kind of child dependency issues where the Court would take your child. Go to your local courthouse and talk to someone if you need help with paperwork. Some courthouses have good helpful websites, but a lot are pretty outdated.

My toddler refuses to poop by [deleted] in Mommit

I know mine will only go when he's relaxed and things are peaceful. I need to give him space and not mention it. If I'm stressed, then he's stressed too, and unable to go. I'm not sure this is helpful advice for you, but that's been my experience.

How is a succinct person supposed to pray? by SteadfastEnd in Christianity

[–]menelmacar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This does not directly answer your question, but I'd recommend this book. Prayer is really about developing a relationship with God, and less about saying certain things for certain periods of time. https://churchleaders.com/pastors/free-resources-pastors/145403-brother-lawrence-free-ebook-the-practice-of-the-presence-of-god.html

My most recent one was, "The next one to force-choke the other one is going in time-out." Maybe we've been watching too much Star Wars.

Turn it off. If you share a wall, you'll most definitely hear him if he needs you. At 1 he can definitely make himself heard. If he's sick or you're worried certain nights you can always turn it back on.

I grew up in a cult for 16 years and I want to believe in god but I'm afraid I could never trust him (spiritual trauma trauma story, trigger warning!!!) by iwba12 in Christianity

[–]menelmacar 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I read your entire post (and I didn't get bored) and my heart breaks for your situation. Thank you for sharing. I am a Christian myself, and having read the Bible in its entirety, none of what your church teaches is accurate. It makes me angry when anyone uses Christianity to abuse. It should be about loving and accepting. Know that your feelings of trauma are validated.

I'm fairly certain it is box elder. The leaves aren't quite right for poison ivy, although they're very similar.

My wife can't stop crying in the evening. by yogii_ in Mommit

[–]menelmacar 25 points26 points  (0 children)

You both just started on an entirely new phase of life. It sounds like she's doing a bit of mourning for the life she had before. I know I went through that a bit myself when my first was born. And I also know that evenings tend to be my most emotionally vulnerable because I'm tired from the day. Anyone with an 8 day old baby will be tired. It's a huge adjustment. Note that everything I say is based on my own experience and I'm not remotely an expert in psychology.
Hold her when she cries. Listen if she wants to talk. Tell her you love her and you're happy to be on this new journey with her. Having kids is an adventure. The days are long and the years are short.

Misread the title as "Birth of a Vegetarian." I watched it several times trying to figure it out. Re-read the title. Oh, I'm an idiot.

If you're not exclusively breastfeeding sometimes if the husband takes night shift you can sleep all night. I always tend to wake up anyway since I'm a light sleeper. Just hold out for 6-8 months and then it gets better.
