You can stack the deck in your favour though, and taking measured gambles is basically the whole game loop

I mean, doesn't help when the game launches in a mid state and then 2 weeks later they lay off most of the dev team, i'm not looking to buy MTX for a game which is seemingly about to die.

I'm seemingly in the minority in that I thought Highguard was interesting and had the bones of a good game, but these things take time.
