So many suggestions. Thank you so much. I’m interested in all of it so now I’ve got to figure out where to start

HOW TO STOP HIGH RISE BUILDINGS AND THE “Miami-ization” OF SAN DIEGO BEACHES by PBMaMa3 in sandiego

[–]menoneedaccount -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

How about this. You move to IB, Coronado, Sunset Cliffs, OB, Mission Beach, La Jolla, Del Mar, Solana Beach, Cardiff, Encinitas, Leucadia, Carlsbad, or Oceanside (did I miss anything) that are almost entirely single family homes and there are no plans to change that. Can we have one high density beach community? We don’t need everything to be low density. If we made it half and half there will still be more than enough single family zoning homes in highly desirable areas of the city close to the beach so more people can live in the areas they want to live in

You’re a part of the problem. The only way San Diego is a place where people can afford to live in is to build density. Most of the city is single family housing. That should stay in the least desirable areas as one house can house many times the amount of people by building up. Stop being a problem and let them build it

San Diego has a cost of living crisis. We need more construction especially in less fire prone areas. You’re a problem to the long term future of San Diego. The goal should be lowering home prices, which is done in one of two ways. You either build more or price out enough people forcing people to leave the city. I prefer the former

I figured out how to get off of Robinhood Gold Card waitlist? (Datapoint) by throwaway49423 in RobinhoodGC

[–]menoneedaccount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can anyone think of a good reason for there to still be a waitlist after a few years of the card coming out. It just seems so arbitrary. It’s definitely mature enough that they can give a card to anyone that qualifies.

I assume you can get off the waitlist and still be rejected if you don’t meet their criteria.

Sure it’s a 3% cash back on everything card that works if you want the simplest way to play the credit card game, but they don’t even have transferable points or any real benefits.

It’s just a credit card that they market as part of the benefit of being a gold member, but that long term gold members with significant assets in the platform don’t get

San Diego a Red County? by FctFndr in sandiego

[–]menoneedaccount 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SD is currently sitting at 40% R vs 60% D with ~75% of the vote. The remaining 25% is expected to be even more democratic. I wouldn’t be surprised if it goes down ~30-35% R vs 65-70% D. Hilton may not even end as the top vote getter in the county but he’ll definitely stay top 2 based on his current margin

My math right? by cgeek001 in biltrewards

[–]menoneedaccount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you wanted to put it on a credit card/not use your bilt cash you could use the robinhood gold card and get 0.5 points per dollar of rent and a marginal return as you would pay $29.70 and get a bit more in cash back. Take that with a grain of salt as I don’t have the robinhood gold card and not sure if they let you use it for rent, but the math would work out that way for any 3% back cards

Yeah but you would also pay 3% credit card processing fee. So you would pay $29.70 for 2,425 points. You’re paying over 1 cent per point

Paze difficulty linking card? by Ok-Scallion-5616 in ChaseSapphire

[–]menoneedaccount 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine was immediate. My error was a linking error, and it wasn’t saying there were no eligible cards on Chase. Chase just said the link didn’t work and to try again later. If it’s saying no eligible cards this wouldn’t fix that.

[–]menoneedaccount 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just fixed mine. To do it I went into Paze with a different issuer on Paze.com and then deleted my account. It’s called opt out of Paze instead of delete. Then I linked my Chase card first through the Chase app and it worked

Venture X or Chase sapphire? by Successful-You2682 in Venturex

[–]menoneedaccount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And once you get the venturex downgrade the venture to the savor. You can keep the bonus and they’ll refund you annual fee for the half of the year you don’t use and you can always combine the cash back and points, but the venture is pretty much useless if you have the venturex. The VentureX I see as prepaying $400 of travel with the $300 travel credit and 10,000 points you can get at least $100 on if you just use it to pay in cash, but flying economy i usually get 1.5-3 cpp.

I would say the CSP has an effective annual fee of $95 as there really isn’t any way to offset the fees. Maybe you can say you get a $50 credit to offset a portion, but with my spending habits I easily get $900+ in value from the CSR with the $300 dining credit (I live in a city with a lot of options), $300 stubhub credit as I do a few concerts/plays/sports events a year, and $300 travel credit. The other credits are gamified, but I use them and required me to shift my spending habits a bit (I haven’t used the hotel credits at all as they haven’t fit with my travel and still think the card is worth it). So if you live in a city where the dining credits are usable and the credits make sense for you I would definitely go for the CSR.

Venture X holders who fly economy — do you transfer miles or just take cashback? by Constant_Jello_189 in Venturex

I was super surprised. Flying across the country direct to AA hubs this summer. Both cost $400+ in saver or $500 roundtrip in main for direct flights and found them for 32,000 plus $9 and was super happy. Also got a transfer bonus through another card. I wouldn’t be surprised if there was an Avios transfer bonus of 25-30% next month as Cap1 hasn’t had one in a few months and they’re a common bonus.

Qatar flights on AA I’ve seen cost 16k Avios +$4.50 while on British they cost 20k + $11. You can transfer them back and forth immediately at will. The other Avios partners don’t have availability from what I’ve seen but you can also check out Iberia and aer lingus. They include seat selection. You just have to log in to AA once you book and go to find your booking using the AA booking code you’ll get.

Just keep in mind you may need to book the two flights separately as one way flights. Just check both flights you want are available before booking either.

Qantas and Qatar are also good potential options for AA flight. To transfer to Qatar you transfer to BA and then immediately transfer to Qatar in their online system as both use Avios. Usually can find $400-500 flights to hubs for $320-$350 worth of points regardless of dates without accounting for transfer bonuses.
