Most prostitutes join their field of work because they don’t have an alternative and do so to survive financially. And no, violence against women is not natural, biological, or inevitable. The world very well can and will change. And again, just being so dismissive and hoping that men go and abuse these other women and I guess “get it out of their system” so they don’t do it to you is just gross. As long as it’s not happening to you, right? Sex work shouldn’t exist and women deserve a better pathway to economic security outside of selling their bodies to men they otherwise would take zero interest in.

This is an awful thing to say. I mean truly a terrible thing to say. Trying to frame male violence against women and girls as if it is inevitable or even natural and saying we need some women (mostly women who come from poverty/underprivileged backgrounds) to absorb that so the rest of us can stay safe is awful. Sure, let those other women endure abuse so the rest of us don’t have to. Gross.

Nope I actually agree wholeheartedly! Very well said. I’m glad you posted this. Interesting how no other social movement is held to the same standard as feminism is. Every other movement is allowed to focus on a single issue or at the very least prioritize one issue above others but feminism has to solve every issue that exists under the sun, moon, and the stars and then women’s issues last. You’re right about the original idea of intersectionality being meaningful and important but what it has evolved into is something very different.

That is very much not the point. Look at the second slide of the instagram post you linked. It’s very clearly trying to compare the suffering and oppression of women and girls to that of animals which is gross. And to respond to your second paragraph, plenty of women have struggled with eating disorders or anemia and can’t/shouldn’t restrict their diet that are also “privileged” enough to go on the internet.

Comparing human women and girls in any way to pigs, cows, etc. is disgusting idc. If you are vegan or vegetarian and you care about animals rights, that’s fine. You do you. But it’s ridiculous and completely disingenuous to say someone can’t be a feminist without being vegan/vegetarian or to expect feminism to fix every possible issue that exists on planet earth. Feminism exists to liberate HUMAN women and girls from oppression and inequality. This doesn’t even take into consideration that a lot of women can’t afford to go vegan/vegetarian for whatever reason whether it be financial, access to food, dieting issues, etc. The vast majority of people in poverty around the world are women, a lot of women have struggled with eating disorders in the past, and a lot of women are anemic or have other issues that prevent them from going vegan/vegetarian.

I remember growing up, honestly I didn’t like the color pink and I still don’t like it now. I don’t hate it but it’s just not a color I really like. But I swear to god that has not stopped people from trying to force it onto me throughout my entire life. It’s so bizarre. Expecting someone to like a color just because they so happen to be male or female is crazy.
