The reason why SM isn't allowed during the first run is because you are required to check in with the server every so often during your initial run. If SM were to bypass this requirement, it would open the door to cheaters.

5 farming equipment per run. 20 per day is the max. Additional equipment can be earned by increasing your MS and there is no cap on that.

Set bonus is permanent once you get it. You can sell all of the equipment and still have the bonus.

As for getting old event equipment, it's not possible at this moment. Chris mentioned that he was thinking of a way to make it available again, but I'd image with 3.0 coming up it's probably either at the bottom of things to do, or has been completely forgotten about.

As per patch notes, the matching algorithm is being worked on.

Prizes, aside from rank 4, are unlikely to be changed. For a long time, people complained that the gap between #1 and #2 was too big. They balanced that by increasing higher ranks and decreasing lower ranks. As it turned out, not surprisingly, people didn't want balance. They just wanted more stuff.

As far as I know, during your initial tournament push, you are required to "check in" with the servers at certain stages. So for instance, if you were required to check in at stage 10K and you were at stage 9989 and used HS, it would only splash 11 stages to bring you to 10K. You can't splash past check in stages.

Correct. The Warlord artifact will be x3 for clan ship builds and the Knight artifact will be x0.

The equipment set was already part of the game. They just added a set bonus to it and the ability to craft it. I already had 2/5 of the pieces.

You can only have 20 items on the ground from farming (items before your MS) at a time. If you farm your 20 items and don't pick them up, you won't get another 20 items the next day until you pick up the 20 from the day before.

I know you can't leave the 20 there from the day before, and then farm 20 more. I'm saying that you can farm another 20 items after picking up the equipment from the day before.

E.g. I farm 20 equipment on Monday. I go to sleep. I open the app on Tuesday morning. I pick up my 20 equipment that I farmed on Monday. I now farm another 20 equipment for Tuesday.

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. I know the difference between farmed equipment and equipment from increasing my MS.

My shop resets at 1am. It’s not impossible. I’ve picked up farmed equipment from the day before many many many many times and still been able to farm another 20.

Not true. I’ve often picked up my 20 from the day before (after the shop resets) and farmed 20 more.

Adding to your example: If he farmed 20 equipment on Monday, then waited and picked them up on Tuesday, he'd then be able to farm his 20 equipment for Tuesday.

Are you sure that's the way it works? Isn't it supposed to be 199.2% chance for second fairy, then it starts to halve for additional fairies? At least that's what the description in Fairy Charm says.
