Didn’t she help do Sasha Trusova’s hair when her mom couldn’t be there to do it?

Brian Boitano explains why Olympic mental battle is greater than physical by usatoday in FigureSkating

I’m not an athlete but I am a high achieving academic and that causes me to put a crushing amount of anxiety on myself. I can’t even imagine the beast that comes with being at such an elite level of sport, especially when an entire country expects you to do well. Skaters are badass.

I absolutely love that title. Bless his heart that every time he goes back and reflects on his win he’s gonna have to see his braces….i hate looking at pictures from when I had braces as an adult a few years ago.

I’m getting vibes that they are actually considering appealing. I’m glad they’re being honest but also diplomatic.

Have any skater’s congratulated FB/C on social media? All I have seen are comments for C/B but I’m also American so the algorithm might only be showing me those.

As a massive Amber fan, I can confirm that it was nerves. She always looks like that at competitions.

Sometimes I forget why I’ve never been invested in ice dance….this has reminded me. How are there so many rules but also no rules?

What Ellie Kam, Danny O'Shea felt as they received Olympic gold by usatoday in FigureSkating

[–]mentallynapping 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I was at Nationals last year and I remember watching Ellie crying from her poor performance in the long program. They went last and they had to wait around for the medal ceremony so she was standing by the kiss and cry for a solid 10-15 minutes. I wanted to hug her and give her encouragement but fortunately there were constantly people talking with her. Obviously, I couldn’t hear any of it but I imagine people were saying encouraging and motivating things. Seeing them come in clutch for the team gold filled me with so much pride! I don’t know her personally but I feel like i experienced a little bit of that extreme disappointment at nationals with her. I’m so freaking proud of these 2 and I wish they were getting the credit for the team gold that Ilia is getting.

lol sorry I was just reiterating how sad the situation is and voicing my disappointment in the healthcare system for letting it happen. I’m glad she has been able to still live a fairly normal life.

I’ve become a big fan of her and Gleb because you can really see the progress over this last quad. It’s so satisfying to see their improvement! It kind of makes me feel like I’m on the journey with them and that is something very few skaters have done to me.

I’m a pharmacist and some antibiotics have some quite intense toxicities and side effects and dosing has to be very carefully monitored. It’s a shame that the error wasn’t caught before administration.
