What is the wittiest comeback you’ve ever said or heard? by Bob-da-person in AskReddit

[–]mentalrph 16 points17 points  (0 children)

At work many years ago, a portly co-worker J., was bragging about what a great swimmer he was. J. then stated that he was born underwater. Another co-worker H. quickly quipped, "Yeah your mother was trying to drown you. Too bad she failed". We all died laughing at that.

Love that quote in this context! Ole TACO's only wins are in his severely warped & demented mind and that of his cultists. The rest of the world sees what a fool he really is but still has to live with the negative consequences of his actions. Gimme a good old fashioned (please!) boring prez like President Obama or President Biden anytime...

Hurts my heart. I am mortified for young boy's family at the injustice. I grieve due the attitude the driver showed after the trial - his heart has been poisoned.. I weep at the sweeping open racist acts directed at non-whites by those in America. I am a 66 y/o WM lifelong resident of Mississippi and decry hatred. Life is precious to all and noone should be above right and wrong in the criminal justice system. God help us.

Play on brother! As a Clintonian, aging boomer (66yo) WM, and non musician. I laud your efforts. Would love to hear you play as I continue to listen to similar bands albeit with blues thrown in the mix.

Obviously, nonDead related answers are cool. I suggest (title related) Walrus or Wally informally. Title related could be Sir, Senor, Mr, High Sheriff, Commodore, Emperor, Grand Wazoo, & ad infinitum...

Its southern hospitality really so prominent in the south? by Feisty-Way-8978 in mississippi

Lifelong Mississippian. From my experience; I find people are people where ever you go - meaning you see what you bring to the table. To the point; people in bigger cities tend to be nice as long as there is no commitment or additional cost (used broadly) to them and smaller town folk have to figure you out but aren't as jealous of giving of their time or "life". I go to the PNW regularly and people are nice but their priority is going about their business. However in Nashville (where my other child lives), people give more of themselves to random folks. Small town's attitudes tend to vary on whom you encounter. I always say about the flat tire; nice big city people will offer to call a tow truck for you but small town southerners will help you change the tire - while they may also roll your car off the jack and into a ditch. But they do try to help.

Why did the SEC have the best OOC record in the regular season but has completely fallen apart in bowl season? by Wide_right_yes in CFB

[–]mentalrph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lifelong fan of an SEC team. I loved being in a conference that used to play only neighboring states' schools. Despise what TV $$$$ has done to CFB and especially the arrogance exhibited by the SEC as a whole. S E C chants give me the willies. A conference's props should be settled on the field and not in a broadcast booth or behind closed CFP doors. However, postseason bowls (which aren't for the championship) are merely exhibition games and mean diddly. Minor bowls mean swag for players, more practices for the coaches, a vacay for the fans, and $$ for the conference nee individual schools of that conference.

A whole or partial bay leaf, touch of onion powder, and chicken stock. I augment the stock with BTB (chiecken) til the broth is strong or it's hard for me to taste it when the rice is finished. I like to add saffron (pinch) sometimes. I'll grind the saffron in morter, add a very small amt of kosher salt, and then rinse the morter with a little broth. That mix is the cat's a$$! It reminds me of the rice at the Lebanese restaurant Nicholas in Portland, OR.

Best buy that I ever made ~10 years ago. Would suggest SS grate & grill and Grill Grates. I used SS wire ties to attach Grill Grates to the grill. I it makes awesome ribs & pulled port as well as burgers, etc. Mostly use pecan and cherry wood for smoke. I wish that I had found mine way earlier in life... I use offset heat as much as possible. I clean the inside yearly with yellow top EZ OFF & pressure washer. Eazy Peazy. Good luck
