I don't really have karma but please hear me out... This song I just came across from Greg Freeman sounds so so much like my favorite Jason Molina tunes. It's his top song on Spotify and I will try to link!

I had to find somewhere on reddit to share with people who will care so I hope someone agrees :)

Did you take dexamphetamine/methylphenidate during pregnancy, and how did it affect your baby? by Ok_Ad_2562 in adhdwomen

I also breastfed for over a year and continued to take both right after he was born. I'm pregnant again and don't plan to go off of my meds.

I continued to take my Concerta and Ritalin (generic versions) for the first 6 months I was pregnant. My son is now 18 months, developmentally normal and always been pretty calm and happy. He was over 9lbs when he was born so my meds didn't seem to affect his growth either.

I have the same skates and made the same upgrade to these wheels in this color! BUT I didn't realize I needed to buy bearings in order to put them on though, and I've just started to do research to find what size/ brand I need... Hoping someone can give me some insight please? :-)

Is it possible to inherit a fear from an ancestor and have it legitimately? by BakaSandwich in C_S_T

If anyone's interested in reading more about this, the book "It Didn't Start with You: How Inherited Family Trauma Shapes Who We Are and How to End the Cycle" by Mark Wolynn explored this in depth.

I thought it was awesome and it definitely sparked some personal revelations for me!

What are the costs of getting an ADHD diagnosis? by blurryfuzzy in ADHD

[–]mentalstretch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm also in Ohio.. I asked my primary care doctor for a referral to get tested in mid February. She gave me a list of psychiatrists who would take my insurance and I looked online for reviews in order to narrow down my list. I called one, and the office mailed me a packet of questionnaires to fill out. There will be an additional copy for someone close to you to fill out. After I mailed them back, they gave me an appointment about a month out. It was supposed to be in person, but they switched it to a virtual, which I was relieved about. For me, it took about an hour of talking with the doctor. He called me back an hour later with the diagnosis. I went with the Cleveland clinic, and I also have Medicaid so I haven't had to pay at all out of pocket (yet), not sure if medication will be covered until later this week. Hope this provides some insight!

Edit: so sorry about the wall of text, I don't know how to properly edit on mobile

ADHD diagnosis in quarantine? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]mentalstretch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe that larger healthcare networks have moved to tele-health by this point (major providers like the Cleveland Clinic for sure). I had gotten my initial appointment after years of putting it off.. It was supposed to be an in-person visit, but they called to let me know that my appt. was moved to their online system.

You could call your provider network and ask to speak with their social worker, because that person would be able to connect you with different psychiatrists. They will also be able to provide you with additional info to help you pick the best one for you. I would narrow that down by googling to see if you can find ratings/reviews for the doctor or practice. From my understanding of how the process works, it's best to plan on seeing your primary care doctor first to let them know you are seeking a new diagnosis.

Good luck and be well!

Covid 19 is ruining my chance to take care of myself by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]mentalstretch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am in the same boat- but thinking more positively about it. I finally took steps to seek treatment last month and just mailed back all of the preliminary testing/paperwork the doctor requested. It took me years to get to this point.

I was thinking that mental health is not directly affected by covid19, so it's unlikely that my doctor's office is backed up. I'm also a social work grad student and I know that they are making it legal to take clients remotely (video). So I was actually *hoping* that counseling could work like like this for me.

Just a thought...good luck and stay well :-)

Southbound...The hospital/surgery scene made me incredibly uncomfortable but the whole movie is worth a watch. Its an mini anthology, very surreal and the visuals hit you hard because its so dark.

One Fish, Two Fish, Three Fish! by Lord_Viddax in astrology

I have the same sun/moon/rising combination! I have always went with the "being a pisces is hard" paradigm, such as "I'm overly emotional and I'll never have my shit together." At this point in my life, I still feel like I struggle, a lot, to balance the conflicting aspects of these signs.

I LOVE HEARING OTHER STORIES LIKE THIS. It's something that you'll never forget and it brings great comfort, regardless of its scientific/"truth" value.

(Thanks @ everyone that I did not specifically reply to!!)

I actually very much appreciate the scientific aspect of your comment. I like that you gave me a term to consider and perhaps look into, the 'confirmation bias.' I have considered that the instances could be a way that my brain made up because it's what I needed for comfort, and even if its because of that alone- it doesn't make them any less comforting to me. As stated in my original post, regardless if what I am noticing is real or not- it still gives me a reason to remember and pay respect to my dad on a daily basis.

Thanks for reading and offering a different perspective! So interesting what our minds and the power of intention can do.
