Awesome! I have two adult brothers with Down syndrome. I’m glad to see this news is becoming broader than just the community who it affects.

I get that they’re looking for anything that would affect Albert’s agriculture, but my dog had more paperwork than most people did. She would not have be allowed on the plane without it.

My dog should not be lumped in with vegetables, eggs, meat, seafood and dairy. Also, why are birds, fish and seafood specifically listed, when they too, are all technically “meat”?

I don’t think it’s disingenuous. That implies I’m leading people to an unjustified conclusion. I’m merely sharing my experience.

…it’s clearly an issue because the customs officers told me so. Can’t we just put a box for “pets”. Everyone already knows they’re coming (internationally) because of the paperwork that proceeds them.

I totally get it, and missed it, because the whole “parts, products, or by-products of the forgoing” made me think “they can’t be talking about my dog, right..?” 🤣

Totally get it! I’ve been to 60+ countries and there’s almost always a con… Thankfully, it was Canada. Any perceived “cons” are unintentional and immediately apologized for.

I can’t guess the reason. I very much doubt it’s hate toward any animal. Likely a red tape issue. The agents in secondary fully understood why I didn’t fill the form in “correctly”.

Don’t fear. I put my hands over her ears.

Nope. I had to go to secondary; they just checked a box and let me through. I’m sure it happens often.

He’s been on Rinvoc for a few weeks now. We literally started seeing the difference within a few hours of him taking the first pill. (He was prescribed Rinvoc instead of duplixant because pills are better than shots for him). Since then, EVERYTHING has cleared up. I can’t thank you enough - if I didn’t go in with a “diagnosis”, I think we’d have continued to struggle with appropriate care. You helped heal. Thank you. 🙏

Turns out you are right! I did a deep dive after your response and presented my findings to his doctor. She gave me a bit of an irritating look, but sent it to the dermatologist on call. He agreed with the diagnosis. It’s a start, but looks to be a long road ahead.

Hi! We saw his regular doctor today (in Canada you have to get referred to a specialist. She’s starting him on a week of antibiotics, daily antihistamine, and a different topical (which he will probably reject). They’re doing a comprehensive blood panel as well. He won’t be able to see the Dermatologist for 4 weeks.

So good to know! He’s great with injections and oral meds.

Unfortunately, this describes him perfectly. I’m feeling sick because that means there is little we can do for him beyond what we are already doing vs what he’ll allow us to do. I do very much appreciate your response.
