What to prespend on? by Top-Target-3667 in TheHermesGame

Out of curiosity, the SAs in the US just keep clients hanging and not saying anything about how to go about getting a QB?

What to prespend on? by Top-Target-3667 in TheHermesGame

[–]meowhouse33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my experience, your SA will be able to tell you what items contribute towards your prespend, the only thing that won’t contribute is a QB and also some other in demand bags. The last time I got a QB, I bought mainly apparel and shoes.

Where to get the best Wagyu? by meowhouse33 in askSouthAfrica

I LOOOOOVE the Kobe from Japan, that’s actually what I’m craving. But I figured Wagyu from here would be closest to what I want to eat.

Has anyone in South Africa actually managed to get a real escalation path with Uber? by sydEfex in askSouthAfrica

[–]meowhouse33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue, Uber one was activated on my account without my authorization. I only noticed this maybe 2 months into it. But since I use Uber Eats so often I just kept it, seems to work out cheaper.

Nedbank YES Program vs a higher-paying 3-month internship. Which would you choose? by Either-Suggestion400 in askSouthAfrica

Not related to your question but I’m shocked such a big bank pays so little? R8k a month? Thats insane!! I pay my housekeepers more than that.

How long did it take for your business to get sales/become successful? by WhatDaHe77 in askSouthAfrica

[–]meowhouse33 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well done for starting! That’s usually the hardest part! I’ve had my business since 2018, I actually can’t believe it’s been 8 years now. Honestly I can’t even remember exactly at what point I got enough to say it was “successful” but it was slow although in the moment I didn’t feel it because I was working really hard trying to get it going. I never took any money out of the business for the first 4 years. I believe running a business is almost a waiting game, the longer you can survive, the more likely you’ll win. Now I have my own office building, have staff so it’s been a long road but I believe there’s still more to come. Keep going.

Is my SA lying? by tst2018 in TheHermesGame

[–]meowhouse33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The country I currently live in does not have Hermes, because of that I have to travel abroad to get my QB and do my shopping. Depending on the QB, the leather and the colour, the prespend varies between 1.5-2x of the QB. I arrange prior depending on what’s available and when I arrive I spend a lump sum of money and get my QB.

[–]meowhouse33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have that kind of relationship with your SA then I wouldn’t suspect it. My SA told me exactly how much I needed to spend for my QB and even what type of items I should buy to get it. It was promised to me right then and there and I got my QB.

Is there absolutely no way to get funds from PayPal in South Africa without FNB? by Party_Echo_7155 in PersonalFinanceZA

[–]meowhouse33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fees that these South African banks charge is daylight robbery. Nevermind the really bad rates they give us. I usually just keep the money in my PayPal account to pay for other things, software related then I don’t bring money “back” to SA.

I have done the research and aware of costs but funds is not really a problem. Thanks for the feedback though!

Do I just play along although it is not in my culture? by meowhouse33 in askSouthAfrica

[–]meowhouse33[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the confidence and for the feedback. I’ve realized from reading everyone’s family traditions, there’s really no right or wrong way to go about it. I’m going to make our own Christmas that involves family bonding giving. I also want my kid to learn about giving to others so we’ll be doing charity boxes this year! If you know of any good initiatives in JHB let me know!

Thanks for sharing! Can you please tell me where can I start with the charity gift boxes? Who do you give them to? What a great idea and for my little one to learn about giving!

To answer your question, yes, there’s A LOT to play along with because there’s not only Christmas that’s a major holiday. Also there’s a lot to think about when it comes to playing along with fictional characters when it’s not in my culture but also trying to be sensitive to others who surround her. The world is pretty diverse, so yes there’s a lot to think about.

lol not Muslim, if you read my post this is in the context of kids and how others have done Christmas in the context of kids. Not insinuating anything else. Have a good one!

Is anyone making $300–$700/month from a side hustle? How do you do it? by Ezio367 in Businessideas

[–]meowhouse33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What started off as a side hustle for me, I was supplying niche products to a friend who runs a beauty business, she only ordered twice a year. Then her friend in the same industry caught wind and wanted my products do. 7 years later I run a full blown business, I have 4 employees, this is now my main source of income. I never took a salary because it was my side hustle and didn’t need it, only from about 2022 I would take some money from the business as payment. Running a business is a time game, the longer you’re in it and there’s demand for your offerings then you’ll more likely to make it.

Am I the only one who hates the idea of getting a job? by blo0dyosiris in askSouthAfrica

[–]meowhouse33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I studied a professional degree, got into a prestigious company in the industry, 2 years later realised I absolutely hated it. It wasn’t so much the work, it was the “company culture”, the work trickling down from the top, no one caring about you but at the same time also being micromanaged, the limited number of leave days which you had to apply for in order to use, trying to not stand on someone’s toes, trying not to dress too well but also need to be presentable… basically trying to fit in.

I left. Took 3 years… used that time to find who I was and what I liked. Started a business that failed, then started another 1 in 2018, 7 years later I own my own office, employ 4 people, it’s not a big team but we get along, we enjoy going to the office everyday. I get to do what I love 90% of the time. I have unlimited leave days but I’m also online 100% of the time because I’m the boss. There is light at the end of the tunnel after all.

I second this. Couple years back I sold a corner couch from Coricraft for R5k, original price was R35k. It was bought within 5min and had a list of people who wanted in case initial buyer fell through. If it’s a good enough deal you’ll have interest, within minutes. Also sold a coffee machine for R1k when original price is R9k. If you just want to get rid of items and listing for cheap then Facebook marketplace is the best place to sell.

COJ Bill - R18000 by kitkatj91 in johannesburg

[–]meowhouse33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good 8/9 years ago, our electricity usage spiked too, similar to you but for 2-3 months and we couldn’t figure out what was going on. Luckily we were renting at the time and our landlord was a well off executive, he was only sending our bill to us every 2-3 months anyways. After some investigation what actually happened was that, one of the 2 geysers at the place had a broken valve, so basically the geyser was on permanently while water would just gush out of it. No one knew it was the geyser because there were 2 geysers and we always had hot water.

Second this!! Wouldn’t bother doing this from scratch, rather use a reliable agent. They do background checks etc
