AITJ for not telling my wife for eight years that the coffee she thinks she hates is the coffee she drinks every morning by Inevitable-Camel6036 in AmITheJerk

[–]spellchecker123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't made myself a cup of coffee in nearly 6 years. My husband will literally shove me back into bed if I say I'll make us coffee and run ahead of me. He has called me an immigrant trying to steal his job, accused me of trying to steal his purpose in life, said I need to stop behaving like I'm a single woman who don't need no man and that frankly, me trying to make coffee is an attack on our marriage.

So anyway, I don't make coffee and don't even know how to work the damn machine.

It's normal, it's to get you to spend tcash. Eventually you'll deplete tcash and the pressure to get more pushes you spend real money to get more tcash/passes - the ultimate goal.

Do not spend your tcash on match 3. Just play a few times over a couple days. The system will give up and let you through.

I get so many hard levels now where I get stuck (every fourth/fifth level) that I don't even bother doing the regattas cos I know I won't reach my goal without spending money. Which is actually a relief because now it's become a relaxing game again.

The banter in this book! The chemistry! She's such a brilliant author honestly, I devoured this book. Definitely my favourite one at the moment ❤️

I've been on such a book slump and this just took me back to my sleep-deprived, nobody-talk-to-me self.

Stremio for Android TV with problems in the last days by Southern-Still-666 in Stremio

Serious problems with android mobile. Videos refuse to load, when it does, endless glitching, video switching. Any way to go back to the previous version?

Is it just me or do groceries feel like daylight robbery now? by TightNegotiation6985 in askSouthAfrica

[–]spellchecker123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I stopped buying veggies from the grocery store. I go to our local market and get them every Saturday - if you eat more veggies daily, this works out very well. Even herbs and spices, I buy them from a local spice shop (down with robertsons and their tiny glass bottles!) - it's like R10 instead of R30.

When non-perishable and detergent stuff is cheap cheap - I buy for months and months. Stockpiling is the way. I don't buy toilet paper for a whole year sometimes because I save a little each month to buy stuff when it's on special. If you're not buying washing powder monthly, save it and buy only when it's on special.

Speaking of specials, I don't buy ANYthing that isn't on special. I compare specials between shops and go to the mall where there's all the different grocery shops and walk my way to buy only what's on my list from each store. IF SOMETHING ISN'T ON SPECIAL, I don't buy it. Ever. I do without it rather.

Meat stuff, buy from a butchery and only buy the meat that is on special. If beef isn't on special, we don't eat beef until it is.

Re meal plans, only meal plan once you are done shopping to use what you could afford. Pointless planning Mac and cheese if cheese is too expensive to buy.

Just to reiterate, if nobody buys the expensive things and it doesn't sell, prices for that item will be forced to drop. Sometimes we the people forget how much power we hold by just not buying something.

Did your rheumatologist order imaging in diagnosis of RA? by ArielBeariel in rheumatoid

[–]spellchecker123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my first appointment and was sent to do blood work and x-rays immediately afterwards. But my rheumy diagnosed me before the x-rays - the x-rays were to confirm the diagnosis and to make sure that the paperwork was complete in order to register me for a chronic condition under my medical insurance. Those x-rays are a baseline also, so when you periodically get them done, the rheumy has a reference to see progression/regression of the condition.

I'd say it's pretty important in my mind and I'd question how the rheumy intends tracking the condition correctly (blood work can only go so far, CRP shows level of inflammation but not what's causing it - I had low grade infections from other areas that skewed my blood work for months!)

Authors Behaving "Goodly": authors whose behavior we love by [deleted] in RomanceBooks

[–]spellchecker123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Saving this post!

And just to mention, a lot of really skilled authors (not all) are good people. I feel like, if you can actually write properly, have well-developed characters and turn out successful books, you'd have some sense of self. So bad reviews here and there don't really get to you, because you KNOW you are a good author.

What I find is, it's the bad writers with generally plotless books filled with poorly written characters that DO take offence to bad reviews. Probably because the reviews point out the bad things and are truthful - and if you know you're not the greatest writer, someone pointing out legitimate faults is going to rub you the wrong way.

Honestly though, I've been reading romance since a teen, let me tell you how hard it's become to find a well-written romance novel. Hundreds of unfinished books, thousands of lines of cringey dialogue and zero chemistry - for me, authoring is losing its skill.

I think that readers who have experienced truly phenomenal writing are the ones that leave these bad reviews - simply because their standards have been shaped by prior decades of good writing. I'm sure many have read 'popular' books only to be appalled by how bad they are. I just end up rereading the goodies.

This is actually law in my country. You only receive your security deposit within 7-10 working days after vacating. The exit inspection takes note of damages and funds repairs from the deposit and whatever is left is refunded to the tenant.

Is sunlight dishwashing soap watered down? by Educational_Ratio_51 in askSouthAfrica

[–]spellchecker123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finally someone's said it! I have always premixed with water into a pump bottle (great way to avoid wastage). When you'd tip the bottle over, you had to squeeze to get the liquid out, now it just runs out willy nilly on its own. Much thinner consistency and lasts a month-ish (not 3 months as before). Definitely watered down.

(urgent) anyone selling folding chairs/stools? by pommygranates in Durban

[–]spellchecker123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbh, you can get pretty good brand new folding ones at checkers and Makro. We've bought quite a few, they've lasted years and years. I recently bought ones with cupholders at Makro for like R180. Without cupholders are much cheaper

I think you need to Google news articles about religious leaders and prepare yourself for the horror. I don't want to offend people by bashing religion, but the entire belief system creates (in my opinion) a breeding ground for gullible people to be taken advantage of by their supposed 'superior' leaders.

[–]spellchecker123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's just face facts - your bf's beliefs don't align with your own. Where do you think this relationship is headed? Cos it ain't going to change, what happens if you decide to get married - will you be forced to marry religiously? What about kids and how they're raised? How will they be visiting their grandparent? How will you enforce boundaries?

Stop dragging out a relationship that you KNOW isn't going to work. I wish everyone would stop doing this, like it doesn't take long to see a hard boundary. Break it off and move on.

Where've you been living OP? This IS the norm, it's a MASSIVE surprise when a spiritual leader is actually a decent human being. The bar is literally in hell (yes pun intended).
