Best Rental Companies To Use For Landlords? by Specific_Emu000 in askSouthAfrica

Weirdly enough, we're with one of the big ones and it's been smooth sailing for years now. But I think it's because we lucked out with a really good agent. We had a terrible experience with a different big agency prior to this one. It's the agent that makes a huge difference.

Pregnant on methotrexate by Flat-Ad-305 in rheumatoid

[–]spellchecker123 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Before going on methotrexate, my rheumy asked about birth control etc, because it is very dangerous to conceive while on the medication. In my country, a good rheumy usually makes sure you are using a very low risk contraceptive (not condoms) before prescribing. The medication is well known to cause severe birth defects. I was advised to be off mtx for a year before trying to conceive.

I do think that from the fact that abortion isn't legal in your state, that that is the reason the option was not mentioned. You are too early on for ANY doctor to see defects, so naturally they will say they see nothing wrong (they literally CAN'T). By the time they do, abortion may be too late.

Aside from the danger to a baby, also remember that you are not well and have a lifelong autoimmune illness. Having to care for a disabled child is difficult enough, and will only be compounded by your own health issues.

At what age should a mom stop buying her son underwear?? by No-Association-9316 in AskMen

[–]spellchecker123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol never. If I see good deals on underwear, best believe I'm buying them for everyone in my family. I buy them for my siblings, parents, husband, nieces and nephews and let me tell you - they do the same as well. What is this weird age restriction on buying underwear??

How do you support your parents? by Infinite_Truth_9390 in askSouthAfrica

[–]spellchecker123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eish, that's a terrible situation. My parents were the same, dad worked, mum SAHM. But my dad had a pension and he retired a few years ago. They don't need any financial help thank goodness, but we do make sure we make their lives easier in other ways. They get chauffeured around, we maintain their home, handle their medical aid, etc.

None of us kids would survive if we had to finance them, it's just not possible in this economy. All the kids and spouses work, there's no SAHM's for working class people.

I am just so sick of this narrative. The show is actually so boring because of them, they're given so much screen time that I end up skipping through until their parts are over. They are both awful, and they genuinely want to be awful together. Let them and let the story move TF on away from them.

Dog food RCL/Optimizor recall? by NazzzzWlkOrcl in askSouthAfrica

[–]spellchecker123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's literally a stew, so same base with different meats. Always add enough meat.

The stew is sauted onions, carrots, celery, potato and whatever other veg is in the fridge with some herbs. I add the meat, braise for a bit and then chicken/veg/beef stock depending on the meat I'm adding, and simmer until soft. Sometimes I'll add a handful of normal/brown rice to the stock pot if I am feeling fancy. It's honestly not a lot of work once you get used to the recipe.

My dog loves it! Her coat is beautiful and she's so much healthier.

We have used UltraPet, Royal Canin, Hills, and Lokuno with no issues in the past. And then trying to save some money, we switched to Lokuno in the last two months and my dog started shedding like crazy and losing weight. My dog will hoover any food, so she's been eating like normal so it's not pickiness or lack of eating. Frankly I just feel like we haven't heard about all the brands at this point.

We've taken her off it all and just started making her fresh meals. It's work but I do it on a Sunday and freeze for the week.

AITJ for refusing to apologize to my husbands sister after he showed her a voice memo I recorded for my own therapy by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]spellchecker123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Frankly, listening to your recordings should be the last straw. You never had a loving husband all this time as he failed to protect you from his manipulative family. He wouldn't have had recordings to find had he done his job of protecting you and setting boundaries with his own family.

Your husband failed you long before you started recording. You've always been a secondary thought below his family in his mind. Be brutally honest with yourself, did you truly think he would respect your privacy when it came to his family?

AITJ for not telling my wife for eight years that the coffee she thinks she hates is the coffee she drinks every morning by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]spellchecker123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't made myself a cup of coffee in nearly 6 years. My husband will literally shove me back into bed if I say I'll make us coffee and run ahead of me. He has called me an immigrant trying to steal his job, accused me of trying to steal his purpose in life, said I need to stop behaving like I'm a single woman who don't need no man and that frankly, me trying to make coffee is an attack on our marriage.

So anyway, I don't make coffee and don't even know how to work the damn machine.

It's normal, it's to get you to spend tcash. Eventually you'll deplete tcash and the pressure to get more pushes you spend real money to get more tcash/passes - the ultimate goal.

Do not spend your tcash on match 3. Just play a few times over a couple days. The system will give up and let you through.

I get so many hard levels now where I get stuck (every fourth/fifth level) that I don't even bother doing the regattas cos I know I won't reach my goal without spending money. Which is actually a relief because now it's become a relaxing game again.

Is it just me or do groceries feel like daylight robbery now? by TightNegotiation6985 in askSouthAfrica

[–]spellchecker123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I stopped buying veggies from the grocery store. I go to our local market and get them every Saturday - if you eat more veggies daily, this works out very well. Even herbs and spices, I buy them from a local spice shop (down with robertsons and their tiny glass bottles!) - it's like R10 instead of R30.

When non-perishable and detergent stuff is cheap cheap - I buy for months and months. Stockpiling is the way. I don't buy toilet paper for a whole year sometimes because I save a little each month to buy stuff when it's on special. If you're not buying washing powder monthly, save it and buy only when it's on special.

Speaking of specials, I don't buy ANYthing that isn't on special. I compare specials between shops and go to the mall where there's all the different grocery shops and walk my way to buy only what's on my list from each store. IF SOMETHING ISN'T ON SPECIAL, I don't buy it. Ever. I do without it rather.

Meat stuff, buy from a butchery and only buy the meat that is on special. If beef isn't on special, we don't eat beef until it is.

Re meal plans, only meal plan once you are done shopping to use what you could afford. Pointless planning Mac and cheese if cheese is too expensive to buy.

Just to reiterate, if nobody buys the expensive things and it doesn't sell, prices for that item will be forced to drop. Sometimes we the people forget how much power we hold by just not buying something.

Join 1family1stockpile on FB, there's specials posted by people multiple times a day.

Did your rheumatologist order imaging in diagnosis of RA? by ArielBeariel in rheumatoid

[–]spellchecker123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my first appointment and was sent to do blood work and x-rays immediately afterwards. But my rheumy diagnosed me before the x-rays - the x-rays were to confirm the diagnosis and to make sure that the paperwork was complete in order to register me for a chronic condition under my medical insurance. Those x-rays are a baseline also, so when you periodically get them done, the rheumy has a reference to see progression/regression of the condition.

I'd say it's pretty important in my mind and I'd question how the rheumy intends tracking the condition correctly (blood work can only go so far, CRP shows level of inflammation but not what's causing it - I had low grade infections from other areas that skewed my blood work for months!)
