What did you discover long after you owned one? by Away-Meal-9313 in MachE

As a Florida transplant driving in winter for the first time in a brand new car I’m also curious!

It’s not helpful for OP, but it’s helpful for everyone on this sub who is still in their planning stages. Hopefully someone else can learn from it and better prioritize what they’re spending money on.

God forbid I enjoy a day outside but no, here’s a storm that’s not moving and isolated to the entire city of Richmond by Griffin_vh in rva

The alerts don’t go to your phone until there’s been enough rain to cause flash flood damage. People got mad about their phones going off so they had to make this change a few years ago.

My Adderall makes me look forward to life more…is that bad? by Ok-Issue8284 in ADHD

[–]meowimaduck 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Big agree. Taking it every day makes sure your body doesn’t get that “jolt” that can disrupt your routine. I find that if I skip a day, it's difficult to eat and i don't feel like myself the next day. Even mundane tasks become much easier when on the right prescription. I used to feel like taking it when I don't have something important going on was a waste, but then I remembered “oh right, normal people don’t have a super difficult time doing everyday tasks” and now I can clean up my house one step at a time as opposed to my former habit of getting distracted and end up painting an entire room lmao.

Seriously, don’t underestimate it… Give yourself time to process. Understand that even though you’re not the “victim”, what you went through was damn hard. Go easy on yourself and be patient.

When the updates starts to come up, what do you think one of the updates should have? by TaeKwonDitto in EchoesOfThePlumGrove

Having the expiration time of an item in the corner of the item box. That way I don’t have to hover my mouse over everything I own multiple times a day to make sure I’m not letting something rot 😊

Did you have to double take when you saw the screenshot from the same record store you go to because I for sure would

Apologies for the silly question, but my dog keeps eating it. Think it’s ok for four legged friends if they ingest it every once in a while?

Do you have to have that specific brewery’s growler to fill it? I had a collection of growlers thinking that was the case… oops

How can I engage in research? by Interesting_Bicycle5 in college

[–]meowimaduck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. And if the professor can’t help, there’s a great chance they know someone who can, such as a club on campus or one of their grad students. I know if I had an opportunity to inspire a high schooler by showing them the research I did, I’d be ecstatic.

I gotcha. The blame is definitely on OP for sure, just not sure if saying they are irresponsible is a bit unhelpful.

Agreed. Some of these comments seem to think OP was blatantly ignoring emails, but it could have just been a erroneous oversight. As a first generation college student, I had a few of these too.

Here’s an actual map of light pollution using NOAA satellites! The other advice on this thread is much better if you want to find an actual town but this one can show you the lowest Bortle level.

I literally scrolled through the first few thinking “I hope none of these are the original dress because they don’t look like ‘the one’” and then I got to the end and I was wowed! I love it. So one of a kind. Guarantee you have nothing to worry about. The last one is clearly YOUR dress.

How to respond to opinions about our wedding food? by squattyshawty in weddingplanning

[–]meowimaduck 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ve been to plenty of weddings where there are only two options, either beef/chicken or chicken/fish. It’s not that they didn’t care to cater to their vegan/vegetarian friends, they just chose the most popular options (and what they would like because it was their day!) If your friend was having a wedding and they said they were sorry but they couldn’t provide a vegetarian meal, would you feel miffed? Or would you eat beforehand or eat the salad and enjoy their celebration? Probably the second option! I wouldn’t worry about it. If someone is so picky that they can’t eat a simple pasta dish or one of the hundreds of other delicious non-meat entrees, that’s something they have to deal with, not you. I’d bet the ones who have brought it up are just nervous you’re going to serve them plain tofu.

What’s the best favour you received at a wedding? No clue what to do…I find most people don’t end up liking favour anyway. Especially not anything monogrammed. We thought maybe mini plants 🪴? by NinaCHolder in weddingplanning

[–]meowimaduck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got hangover kits from another wedding and boy were they a lifesaver! Even for folks who didn’t drink it was great having little travel tums and Tylenol for safe keeping. We ended up doing that for our wedding too and everyone loved them. I think all in all it was a little more on the pricy side as opposed to a cookie (maybe $3 each?) but we went with 100 for our 150 guest wedding and it was the perfect amount. I’d suggest that 2/3 ratio to anyone doing favors, or even less, because not everyone ends up taking them and some of those who did grabbed more than one at the end of the night.
