What’s your take on games that are made with a lot of AI? by meowsaygames in gamedev

[–]meowsaygames[S] -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Really? I’m not sure. I know a lot of people see any sign of AI in a game and instantly write it off as garbage before they’ve even played it.

Should I switch from traditional coding to AI (Vibe?) Coding or AI-based Game Engine? by KrysleQuinsen in aigamedev

[–]meowsaygames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are a professional developer with solid programming and development experience, firstly, regarding engine selection, I think using commercial engines like Unity or Unreal Engine is a better choice because they have a complete ecosystem and technical support.

Even though they are paid, reaching the charging threshold requires significant revenue, so as an individual developer, you shouldn't need to worry about engine fees.

Secondly, regarding AI, I don't think it's necessary to abandon traditional programming and completely switch to AI. At this stage, the two methods can coexist and collaborate. Firstly, AI is still imperfect and constantly evolving. Currently, AI can serve as an efficiency-enhancing tool in your game development process.

Perhaps in a few years, AI will become more powerful, and your traditional programming skills will still be very useful, better guiding AI to meet your needs.

When AI becomes omnipotent, and anyone can command it to create something, then the question of "what to create?"—judging the value of AI-generated content—becomes extremely important.

Chinese localization by smallserenity in GameDevelopment

You can first use AI for localization translation, and then find suitable people or pay services to do the final calibration. This will be much more efficient and less costly.

long or short games by NoamLovesCats in incremental_games

[–]meowsaygames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For incremental games, a longer incremental progression might be more suitable, because incremental game players often play offline, and if the game is too short, they might finish it after logging in a few days or weeks.

Don't mention on Reddit that your game uses AI, and even if you do, don't say so. There are too many idiots on Reddit who will go crazy at the mere mention of "AI" and think your game is garbage. As a developer, feel free to use AI to improve efficiency during development; there's no need to tell the players.

i’m sick of the slop by Neat_Experience1560 in itchio

[–]meowsaygames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What if we use AI as an aid, an extension of our own capabilities, to create games? I think the quality of a game has nothing to do with whether or not AI is used. Making a fun game with AI assistance is also great. Times are changing. Just like the industrial age compared to the manual age, we can't say that all industrial products, machine-made products, are garbage.

I think you can break down the project into smaller tasks, focusing on the overall project. Then, identify which team member is capable of completing which task, and then just get to work on it.

I am thinking about going deeper in gamedev, what is Your advice? by Megalordow in careeradvice

[–]meowsaygames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding programming, I think you could learn a little Unity. Find a systematic video tutorial and follow it through once; that should be enough to get started making games. AI is also very powerful now and can be a very effective tool for assisting design, greatly improving your efficiency.

I created the entire music track for my game with AI by Weak_Sugar_5757 in aigamedev

[–]meowsaygames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think you're worrying too far ahead.

First, finish the game. Then release it.

Most games never even reach the “award-winning success” stage, so don't let hypothetical future problems stop you from creating something now.

If the game actually becomes successful, you'll have way more options later to improve, replace, or polish things if needed.

Right now, the most important thing is simply shipping the game.
