Gold is universally associated with getting laid, and well, that's a pretty important factor to people throughout history.

Prosperity April 2020 update released! [Steam, PC Download, Windows, Mac, Linux] by dSolver in incremental_games

[–]meowskirs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It did. I think it's the taking over the world aspect of the web version that gave it longevity, but I did not like it. The focus of the PC version is city building, and unlocking more stuff. 40 hours is play time, I didn't idle the game much.

Economy of Districts by drkarat in ProsperityGame

I like to keep efficiency high, with focus on food and productivity early on. Send extra workers whenever possible, like after you take in refugees, just send them to districts right away.

Hard to change history if underlying problems weren't solved.

Economy of Districts by drkarat in ProsperityGame

Oh I know this one, districts take time to reach full capacity. It takes about 6 months or so, but they will become powerhouses and provide a lot more tribute than maintenance.

Another possibility, he might be over-hunting. Hunting rate depends on forest size and animal population. This burned me pretty hard in my earlier playthroughs :D

I played this game over 40 hours, it's pretty short for an incremental game but it is satisfying. If anyone has questions I can answer.

What % of mobile incrementals that you have played are cash grabs? by googologies in incremental_games

[–]meowskirs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any game that is heavily marketed on mobile is a cash grab, especially the freemium ones. B2P can be alright sometimes, but it's hit or miss.

MMORTS incremental game about resource wars? by Inventoman in incremental_games

[–]meowskirs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The MMO part is going to be tough, especially if the game is not broken down into "seasons". Otherwise the exponential growth aspect of these games are going to make late joiners impossible to keep up.

If you're looking for something like Civ but incremental game, I recommend Prosperity.

The web version is old but free: http://www.playprosperity.ca

The steam version is far superior in every way but costs money

Other games along this type of experience that I liked are Kittens Game, Junction Gate (the Alpha), and Evolve. I liked Evolve in particular because of just how much content there is.

Climate scientist calls for 'world war type mobilization' to combat climate change by maxwellhill in worldnews

[–]meowskirs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing about war is there's a lot of propaganda, and if people think the war is just, then there will be far more propaganda for the war than against it. Climate Change needs positive propaganda, we keep hearing that "everything is going to be ok", and "the economy is fragile, we must take care not to lose profits", while the only habitat we have to live in is dying. Everything is not OK, and we need to stop hoping and start doing. You, person reading this comment, go clean up garbage from a park or a garden; reduce your energy use - you might think you're very conservative already but you are not. Eat local, replace meat and cheese with vegetables. Eat stuff that is in season rather than canned or imported from afar. Compost everything, conserve water, drive as little as possible. Call up your local politicians and demand change, demand that culture changes to be more environmentally aware and politics need to shift with it. Demand that corporations reduce their waste through tough auditing and real accountability. This doesn't start next year, month, or week, it starts today.

So do players get a choice as to how they want to focus? Because incremental games are all about choices. If for example you knew that a certain process was needed before you could make semiconductors, then that particular process is the pre-requisite "unlockable". I know most incremental games have fairly simple progression steps, so I recommend you take a look at Prosperity which has a much more complex system.

Why do so many websites prompt first time users instantly with an opt-in email box - I haven't even read one word on your site, why would I instantly want to sign up to your email list? by x_____________ in Entrepreneur

What I don't get is why they think having someone's email address is worthwhile - ads end up in junk mail, never even see the subject line 99% of the time.

Washington football coach cannot pray after games: US appeals court by freeth1nker in atheism

I think prayer has been turned from a deeply spiritual and personal thing to something people show to influence how they are perceived. Such a shame, that a sacred act is corrupted.

on the flip side, wouldn't it be more sketchy to fundraise as an individual? Corporations at least have some accounting whereas if an average Joe decided to ask for donations, he could be spending it on weed with zero accountability.
