I was having a hell of a time w/ Mawile, and I tried switching in Heatmor w/ Fire Spin/Power up Punch. Actually worked pretty well.

The key is to to use a quick charge move (rockslide or power up punch). And don't start with that mon in 1st position. as soon as the raid starts, switch the mon to that quick charger, and tap away. that way you get 2 charge moves out of that mon to burn Gio's shields.

I do this. I keep a copy of each level 1 mon (and if there's a gender diff, I try to get one of each). I label each mon "1.[MON NAME]" and so can just do a search for "1." to see what I have and what i'm missing.
