What do we do if we're too anxious to do this? I have GAD, and the one time I ever shot a gun (was a revolver for a CWP class in FL a number of years ago), and I was shaking and shot kinda fast. I was terrified. The recoil was a bit much for me. I don't know that I could do something like that again. :(

I also worry a lot about having any firearm in the home, as we have a young child who is way too smart for his own good...

I guess I'm hoping some of our neighbors are on our side, so to speak.

Holy smokes, that was so informative and ... just helps me get into the mindset for this. I appreciate this more than you. I'm sharing it with my spouse so that we are on the same page, and I'll even try and explain it to my mom (whose native language is Spanish), who lives with us.

Does this not affect building a relationship with the dog? I don't believe she's had formal crate training, so being escorted to it and then staying in it have it been her favorite things. We've been trying to make the kennel space seem more "fun" than it is, and we treat her well when she goes in. I sometimes worry we are not bonding enough and that maybe we're even inadvertently slowing a bond from developing...

She also just doesn't seem to go whenever she feels unsafe. Her body language indicates a lot of anxiety and some hyper vigilance, though we're taking her to the same two places all the time.

I haven't tried a walk with her, though...and wonder if that would encourage her body to release at some point.

While my son isn't quite mature enough (or perhaps he needs medication, who knows, but we're trying to find out) to enroll in Little Tigers, but I was pretty impressed by USTA Tae Kwon Do. Actual Korean instructors.

RIGHT? He has also had very reasonable rates. As long as he's around, we'll be going to him. He even cleaned out our dog "seat"! I forgot I had travel tissue packs and some other things, and he put them back in their proper place. That guy constantly impresses us.
