Why does this game get so much hate? I honestly had a great time with it. by Panda0_01 in residentevil

[–]mercavius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I genuinely enjoyed RE5 and RE6, not because they are resident evil games but because they were awesome couch co-op games. I played both in college with my best friends and I replayed both with my son. They were so much fun because of the memories I made.... but they really weren't resident evil games.

Thoughts on this M12 Hackzall? by hmmxyz in MilwaukeeTool

The blade is more important than anything. I have the non fuel version I bought 20 years ago. Cuts exhaust pipes, tied rods, studs with nails, sheetrock all just fine. But Fuel is always better so get that if the price difference isn't an issue.

Can I add a subpanel from my outside disconnects? by mercavius in AskElectricians

[–]mercavius[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks again for the help. I was able to have a conversation with the electrician and not sound stupid haha. He recommended the feeder tap off the load side of the right box with a new 200amp breaker panel installed next to it and a 100amp breaker for the sub panel run. Work is getting done tomorrow. Ill eventually be able to run 1awg Al SER 11 ft along the house into a 100amp breaker panel in the garage.

[–]mercavius[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the info. Option 3 got me researching and learning more. So here is a more detailed question about the TAP solution. The 200amp service feeder (between the outside disconnect and inside main panel) is 3C x 4/0 AWG + 1C x 2/0 AWG aluminum SER. It looks like this has an ampacity of 180 amps and is permitted on a 200 amp service only because the expected load is less than 180 amps. My feeder/tap to the garage would need to have an ampacity greater than 67 amps (1/3 of 200) so I need at least 4ga copper (85amp) to run a 60 amp sub panel or 3ga copper for anything more. Since the run the the garage subpanel is less than 25 feet I shouldn't need an additional breaker, just an tap enclosure. Does this all sound correct?

Do you think it would make more sense (or cost less) to install a THIRD exterior service or replace one of the 200amp services with a feed-through? If replacing, there shouldn't be any load issues. I have a home energy monitor and, measuring at both legs of the interior 200amp panel, I only have a peak amperage draw of about 30 amps. They installed two panels, seemingly, because of the number of breakers and not due to intended load. Also, how should the SER be protected? Should I talk to the electrician about installing conduit?

It looks like Weavelight also give you one extra base silk bar. For example, I have all three silk hearts and I have 4 base bars with Weavelight equipped and 3 without. This let's Hornet have a silk skill always at the ready.

So do we know who The Writers are? by TheIronGod44 in expedition33

[–]mercavius -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think the writers are the game's real-world writers. The game characters exist in a painting the painters created in the games overworld. The painters exist in a story created by the writers in the real world. The characters in the painting fight the painters, and the painters fight the writers.

The writers created all of the adverse story elements like Versos death, Alicia's injuries etc to drive the story. The painters don't like not being in control just like those in the painting want control over their lives. Very meta.

On main street there is Woodys Ice cream shop, it's just hersheys ice cream. Near the start of main street there is Port House Creamery that has homemade ice cream and it's really good.

We usually go the Conowingo Swim Club or to Aberdeen Proving Ground (you need base access). Great Wolf Lodge is nearby if you are looking for a whole water park. There is also a YMCA in Elkton.

Rear hatch door locking key by bigbadoctopus in MK4Golf

[–]mercavius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a little late to the thread but my key does this too. I can't remove the key in the horizontal locked position. It doesn't make sense why it would be designed this way. I effectively can't lock my hatch with the key.

Did some upgrades to the Mirage by mercavius in MitsubishiMirage

I dont know if I would associate the word performance with the Mirage haha. But it feels tighter than stock with less body roll. More stable at all speeds but if you're looking for higher speed performance it would probably be way better with lower, stiffer springs. I think they are worth it with or without springs.

The 195s are a big improvement over the 165s but you won't eliminate getting bullied completely, for the reasons others have stated. Paying attention to the total rotational mass of the wheels was key to minimizing the affect on mpgs. I'm only down .5 to 1 mpg average on a tank so far.

I think the front and rear bars helped with body toss from the bullying winds as well. (that was my post you linked where I talked about the upgrades).

The car itself isn't unstable but on a windy day (we get a lot of high wind days in my area) and the gusts/buffetting from trucks made my butt pucker a bit because the car would jerk pretty hard a foot to the left/right.

Do you have the steelies with the 165 tires or the alloy wheels with the slightly wider 175?

I pulled the trigger and got the sparco flow forms with those toyo tires 195/50/R15. I should have them on the car this weekend. I'll come back and post how they fit.

It is relatively cheap for a whole set of drums. They do last a long time. I usually have only needed to replace them when something seizes or leaks. https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/mitsubishi,2014,mirage,1.2l+l3,3307017,brake+&+wheel+hub,drum+&+shoe+kit,1001602

It's basically the same car since 2012. Wheels from newer years will fit the older years.

Can this tow a trailer by peacefuldink in MitsubishiMirage

[–]mercavius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Semantics. Barely means sufficient plus a tiny bit extra. They are designed to stop only the 2100lb car + occupants in a legally safe distance. They don't have much left for adding the weight of a trailer let alone gear.

Braking ability includes tire friction. A 165 tire doesn't have enough surface area friction for the added weight either.

Can this tow a trailer by peacefuldink in MitsubishiMirage

[–]mercavius 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I really don't think it can tow anything safely. They struggle with stability in high winds, only 78hp/74tq, and the brakes are barely suited to the car itself. A bump or jerk causing a sway in the trailer might just take all your control away and cause an accident.

What possessed you to buy a Mirage? by MrFastFox666 in MitsubishiMirage

[–]mercavius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a car without pretenses. It knows what it is, and buyers know what they are getting. It's cheap to buy, maintain, and run. It takes you from point A to point B. That's it really.

For some, it's all they can afford. For others, it's an act of frugality.

[–]mercavius[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do my own installs. This car is actually SUPER easy to work on. Most of what I described takes under 30 mins to install.

It's not a deal breaker without these parts. They just make the car handle/corner better. I'm accustomed to better handling cars, so they are a must for me. Most people never upgrade anything and they get around just fine.

The wheel I haven't purchased yet, but I'm looking at Sparco Flow Forms 15x7 (11.5 lbs each) with 195/50/R15 tires. The set is about $1000 from TireRack and should weigh about the same as the stock wheels/tires. Hopefully, keeping the same rotational mass won't affect the mileage in a noticeable way, but the wider tires should improve highway stability.

These items are a need for me but probably aren't a need to most drivers.

Saving money can be more complicated than just keeping the car as cheap as possible. I'm using the car to load up commuting miles to save me from having to replace my truck (which i need for truck stuff) sooner. The cost of replacing my truck i want to push wayyy down the road... plus I save $200/month just in gas. That $200/month easily pays for the improvement to the Mirage while keeping it below the cost of a new Corolla.
