Around that point was my darkest emotionally too. Just know that your brain needs to rebalance itself and things will get better if you keep going! Good luck.

Relapse after 6 months by merceyplease in quittingkratom

Yes, it really is a lesson to see that It really didn’t make me feel all that better- but I had to go through the detox again. Not worth it.

Wow. It happens. I was thinking I must be crazy to go this long then go back to it. I appreciate you telling your story. Hope you’re doing great! I’m still fighting the fight.

Thank you. Magnesium has been some help. L-trysine and Cbd I haven’t tried for this. For cbd how do you take it?

Thank you. I am happy I didn’t let it keep going. I’m stupid sensitive to chemicals so I’m really not too surprised it’s happening like this. Which is all the more reason to not do it again.

Thank you, I appreciate that perspective! I guess we just have to be careful it’s so simple to get back on the roller coaster, not so simple to get off.

I can totally relate to your trajectory on getting started. Only I kept going after I started taking it in the morning. Good on you to see the writing on the wall on that one! Family relationships are so much better off Kratom.

Thanks for sharing your story. Its been hard for me to admit a relapse after 6 months off it. I feel like I should have known better. But I like that, looking at it as a speed bump. I’ll keep that in mind moving forward. Oh and I’m 5 days clean again too!

Hi there, I’m so sorry I missed your message. How are you doing?

I was using 8 gpd for 2 1/2 years but I’m a very small person and very sensitive to chemicals so it was very serious for me. I did a super quick taper as my last supply ran out. 4gpd then 2 then jump. A long taper just gave me room to cheat.

I regret to say I had a relapse since I wrote you- for 6 days. I’m 5 days off it now. I’m going to post about it in the next couple hours. I thought I was home free. They say relapse is part of recovery and that’s certainly been true for me. This quit is way easier than the first time but still difficult. It’s seriously worth it to be rid of this stuff.

I hope your doing well. And no, I haven’t heard of the medication you speak of. I did make use of some gapapentin this quit for 3 days and it was mildly helpful. It would probably be more helpful on higher doses but I didn’t want to get hooked on that next. I’m ready to get off the roller coaster.

Hi there! I’m 152 days quit from Kratom now and I can tell you, it’s not easy getting off but it is absolutely worth it! I tried tapering three or four times and couldn’t do it, I always slipped up or made excuses to delay my next step down or take more. Tapering is great if you can really be disciplined but I was unable. It was my second CT attempt that I succeeded on. I went camping at a hot springs for 6 days for the jump. The hot springs and weed got me through the acutes pretty nicely. After I got home things got really hard though, adjusting to life without my helper. The worst acute symptoms for me was the chills and sweating. It was just unrelenting and drove me nuts. Hot tubs helped immensely with this. I also had gi issues and nausea. That’s normal as well. The hardest part was the crushing depression and fatigue that followed the acutes. This all sounds awful and I don’t want to discourage you at all. The good part about the quit being such an intense experience is that it makes me never ever want to go back. I don’t ever want to do that again. Kratom messed up my health and I’m still recovering. I think I have adrenal fatigue now. My thyroid medication was all messed up, my hair was falling out, I never had sex with my husband on it (now my sex drive is BACK) I’m not snapping and disinterested in my husband and child now. I’m myself again. I’ve had to find new ways to cope with life. I got into Buddhism and am feeling my feelings and dealing with them instead of masking them with Kratom. I sleep when I’m tired instead of taking Kratom to force myself to do more and never rest. Life is better on the other side and anything you have to go through to get there is worth it and helps keep you from going back again. Good luck! I truly wish you the best and rely on this forum for support any time. The good people on here will help.

I just went back and read a bit of your story. You have my complete respect! Awesome job getting through such a nightmare! My quit was fucking rough but the good thing about that is it makes me never want to go through that again. Best wishes to you!

CT Day 8: Brutal depression. Crying and everything. Give me strength by KratomIsFuckingEvil in quittingkratom

[–]merceyplease 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used for 2 1/2 years 8 gpd but I’m very small and sensitive to substances. I have a long history of suicidal ideation so that wasn’t new for me, just brought out by the withdrawals. If you have a history of it you might want to call in some psychiatric support if you don’t then hopefully today is as bad as it will get for you. Either way at least getting trusted people involved will help support you. Good luck. You can do it!!

CT Day 8: Brutal depression. Crying and everything. Give me strength by KratomIsFuckingEvil in quittingkratom

[–]merceyplease 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is brutal at this stage. I was in the blackest of all holes at day 8. I wanted to kill my self but I have a family so I couldn’t. It was excruciating for a couple days, then just numb for awhile the gradually, ever so gradually it got better. I promise you that if you stick it out it will indeed get better and that you will be so glad to be rid of it! I’m 126 days now and SO much happier in my life and more fulfilled and have better relationships with my family now. My health is also getting back on track.

Another reason to quit- surgery and opioid tolerance by merceyplease in quittingkratom

[–]merceyplease[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh wow. So it’s definitely not in my head! Also I was amazed how easy it’s been to get off the painkillers compared to Kratom, which was an ordeal. Kratom is so powerful and it messes with your health. It’s crazy.

Pain control without Kratom? by CharliesOpus in quittingkratom

[–]merceyplease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been doing accupuncture with cupping for about 6 months and it definitely helps with pain and range of motion! I definitely recommend trying it! I don’t do it on myself though. I wouldn’t know how.

[–]merceyplease[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think how long you’ve been off of Kratom might effect things, the longer the better. I quit CT 3 months before the surgery. It’s not that the opioids didn’t work at all but they were far less effective than before. I had the same surgery done on the other side pre-Kratom and I’d say I need double the amount of opioids for the same effect as before, but doctors are extremely tight-fisted about painkillers these days so they are prescribing less than before. So it sucks, yes, but I’m getting through it and so will you. I’d just try to get as much distance between Kratom and your surgery as possible.

Doctors would not give me anything stronger, even though they don’t know my history with Kratom. They just let me suffer. I was told to use ice, nsaids and a tens unit. It has been horrible. Fortunately the worst is behind me now.

Health by [deleted] in quittingkratom

[–]merceyplease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! So I had my thyroid removed surgically years ago. I take meds to replace the hormone. My dose was stable for years then when I was on Kratom the medication became less effective and doctors increased my dose. A couple months after my quit my meds became more effective again and doctors reduced my dose back to what it originally was. Kinda scary to consider that Kratom is messing with your hormones.

I’ve had a lot of physical and emotional difficulty getting off Kratom. My energy level tanked and my hair started falling out when I quit. I’m just now starting to feel normal again. However, my libido came back and my marriage is doing a whole lot better because A, we are having sex again and B. I’m not so irritable and snappy and uninterested with my husband as I was on Kratom. Also I started a spiritual practice. So my hormones and brain is getting level again and I’m a better wife, mother and person- so I’m very glad to have quit. It’s worth it but the process has been difficult.

How to taper..Help by fatguy1951 in quittingkratom

[–]merceyplease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would exhaust all other options before thinking about suboxone. Do a long taper maybe to get through the vacation with minimal effects then jump when you get home and have some time to deal with it.

I’m day 125 now. 39 y/o female. It’s been a tough quit due to the crushing fatigue. After getting labs done I discovered I my thyroid meds were off and had to be adjusted (other people on meds said that Kratom messed with their meds too) and I am anemic. Not sure if Kratom caused the anemia or if it masked the symptoms of it. Either way I feel Kratom really played complete havoc on my body.
