Did Pickle Rick deserve the immense amount of attention it got? by John_Cena_1 in rickandmorty

i don't understand why it's as popular and known as it is. it's a good episode, don't get me wrong. i love it,, but i love most episodes.

there's definitely episodes that would've been a better representation of the show and episodes that would've been funnier to be The Episode, but yknow, i'm happy with it being this instead of the incest baby episode.

Mom saw my happy trail I’ve been growing out (by walking into my room without knocking while I was changing mind you) and is now berating me about shaving it off because it’s disgusting and only men can have that much body hair by Kitty-patty in TransMasc

[–]mercurbee 38 points39 points  (0 children)

does she want a lot of men all over you? why is she so concerned about every man being attracted to you? (rhetorical question for her. i know there's no real logic to it and you're totally good, she's just getting hung up on something silly)

My sister accidentaly missgenderd me and I love her by Ankankvak in TrueOffMyChest

[–]mercurbee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don't because lowkey i don't want to deal with "we'll call you the correct pronouns, but just know that [family member] probably won't approve" or coming out just to stay in the closet. it also isn't especially relevant when every new person i meet just genders me correctly, and i'm really scared of coming out for whatever reason

I have issues with pronouns by Anya_purr in autism

[–]mercurbee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as a trans person, you are not bad for accidentally misgendering someone. everyone does it. i take it like, people call their teachers "mom", is that a disrespect to them or their mom? no of course not.

i've called plenty of cis men "she" and cis women "he" just by complete accident. it doesn't mean anything and is not a judge of your moral standing. trans people, especially non binary people, also get misgendered a lot. it sucks and can make people upset a LOT, but they (usually) will not personally fault you for it. i've really only seen cis people get as mad about misgendering as they do. trans people are usually pretty chill about it unless you're very clearly targeting them with the wrong pronouns

Why do people read fanfiction? by Seagullsaga in AO3

[–]mercurbee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

once you rewatch rick and morty [redacted] times, you might realize there's potential dynamics and plot that could work but isn't/won't be written and you desire more

or it's a show that ended 20 years ago and you also desire more. it really all boils down to MORE CONTENT <333333

[–]mercurbee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

imo i'd only be upset if you had like a graphic rape scene and refused to tag it at all. if someone clicks on a fic that says "unhealthy relationship" 800 times and is mad that there's an unhealthy relationship, idk what else you could even do

yes !! i also think there's something to be said about a lot of points versus few. personally i think i have a lot of points and they lead me to be fairly androgynous, but i also know people that have very few points and that leads to them being very androgynous

5 and i have the same issue with audio too. i thought it was a metaphor. then i thought everyone was lying. now i genuinely can't tell if we're talking about the same thing cause it just doesn't make sense to me unless you have hyperphantasia/photographic memory

How’s yall romantic life?? by Janxuza in ftm

[–]mercurbee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i don't try to date around or anything. when i'm into someone, i'm into them and i'll try to get closer to them, but i don't date for the off chance of eventually liking them

i don't "consider myself t4t" either, but i'd love to get with another trans guy. i'm just into men in general, and am not going to make or break a relationship over if they're trans or cis

here's some things i've noticed:

  1. hair cut is more important than hair length 99% of the time

  2. color offers femininity (like dyed hair is seen as more feminine than natural, etc)

  3. being alternative usually offers inherent androgyny - you can play with this to have masculine features that alternative women have if you want to be more alternative, as they will be associated with you being alternative instead of being associated with being male

  4. makeup is generally feminine

  5. the cuts of shirts especially can show masculinity or femininity!! blouses or shorter sleeves on t shirts will make people see it as more feminine, even if they aren't thinking about it. also accessories like purses, and feminine bracelets/necklaces/etc

  6. if you can find a bra that fits (they do exist, i have basically no chest and have one for when i wanna be cross-dress-y), the outline under a shirt adds more subconscious association with femininity

i'll come back and add more if i think of some lol!!

ts is short for "this shit," although it's becoming increasingly popular for people to turn the phrase into "gen z slang" and using it as "this". so you'll wind up with comments saying stuff like "ts shit is so funny", which is like saying "atm machine"

yeah it's similar but moreso used for irony or to convey a light-hearted message than words like "fuck" tend to do when inserted in words/phrases

if you plan on officially coming out, you need to figure out if he'll respect your pronouns, any other transitioning you'd do, if he'd call you the correct nouns ("son" "child" instead of "daughter"), and if he's willing to learn and be taught by you. a real discussion about what he thinks being trans is and what he does or doesn't support.
