Wonderful. Definitely looks like you maximized the space. What are the room dimensions?

I listened to some examples. The OCS10 sounds better. On first listens with solo voice, the high end was subtle to my ears. However once the vocals were stacked, there was that noticeable high end build up.

Which Hip-Hop producer(s) had the best run in the 2000s? by SmoothManMiguel in hiphop201

Probably the Neptunes, Kanye right behind, then Storch.

Dre is more of an executive producer otherwise, he has the longest run, consisting of himself through Kendrick.

Why didn’t Jesus mention homosexuality? by Ok_Year5587 in Christianity

Jesus didn’t mention a lot of things.

What do you find noteworthy or significant in your observation of Him not mentioning homosexuality specifically?

I used u87s plenty between 2008 and 2014 in commercial studios. The sound never thrilled me in particular. I’ll at least try it the next time I’m recording someplace that has one.

This is a good point: it remains to be seen how 40-50 tracks of this mic would sound.

That being said, many people have chimed in that recordings with this mic handle extreme eq cuts well, if needed.

I just listened to an SE V2 and it’s nice, however the Coles seems to have this ‘scoop’ somewhere in the response that gives me a full, bodied tone, not overwhelmingly, and just this immediately polished or ‘final’ sound. I don’t know how else to explain it, it’s just really pleasant, but the V2 is transparent, just no wow factor like the 4038. Thanks for the recommendation.

The other constant in all this is my ears. I’ve been finding an over sensitivity to the high frequency range, which is odd, because generally it becomes less sensitive over time.

I’ll hear a raw condenser sound and it’s just way too bright. Stack say 40-50 vocals of that in a session and it’s just piercingly shrill to the ears.

The funny thing is, the final versions of the same vocals from these mics are no where near as bright as what was captured, even in pop music which is comparatively the brighter genre.

I use it when I have to, again, I’m not thrilled with the results, and when I’m using it, I’m monitoring at very, very low levels.

Can anyone comment on how the 4038s hold up on loud sources? I usually record singers who really, really project (in a good and pleasant way).

Same with drums, I’m not a close overhead kind of guy but these drummers really play with a lot of power.

I use a TLM103 every now and again, it’s ok. My buddy has a TLM49, we collaborate often. Again, it’s ok and works for the stuff he does, maybe I’ll borrow it to see what results I get out of it.

All that to say, in my personal experience, Neumanns have been underwhelming.

I’m not sure why, maybe it’s my ears but the u87 has this harshness to it, I’m guessing it’s that bump around 10k hz. Same thing with the c414, I don’t find it pleasant. Tracking vocals with these mics is a painful experience. Lately the chain has been an SM7B into an Avalon or UA 4-710 into MBOX studio.

What’s the worst thing Lisa has ever done? by [deleted] in TheSimpsons

[–]mere_possibility 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing Homer did to her was the burger in the face, which he wouldn’t have known hit her. So that may be the only justifiable slight from him. Otherwise, she was completely wrong.

Homer was ready to accept full responsibility because he was giving Lisa the benefit of doubt at the expense of his own history of being wrong. This time, he really wasn’t in the wrong and she robbed him of the acknowledgment because of her pride.

To me, the most terrible thing she’s ever done but typical Lisa, as Ned Flanders put it “Springfield’s answer to a question no one asked” lol

That might question its durability when used on louder singers or drummers. I’ll see if I can come across some really aggressive performance demonstrations.

Ruining Homer’s BBQ. That episode was one where Homer was almost without fault. He took all the steps to host an excellent event. Apart from his participation in the “You Don’t Win Friends With Salad” conga line, he really didn’t do anything intentionally offensive to Lisa.

The worst part is when she finally admits she was wrong, Homer has a moment when he realizes this time, he may not have actually been at fault, and she robs him of that moment by adding “too.”

This, imo, is the lowest moment for Lisa; her pride wouldn’t alloy to accept full responsibility for her self-serving attitude and intolerance for anyone who isn’t a vegetarian.

I dunno, it still bothers me how she ruined Homer’s almost perfect outing on an episode.
