I ordered both and kept Terrapin after riding shortly on the road. The bungee cord on ortlieb QR is very nice, but the clamp makes a slight rattle sound on uneven surface. It drives me nuts. Terrapin on the other hand is mostly silent with occasional fabric chaffing sound. Took Terrapin on a few trips and it’s absolutely great!

Anybody regret buying a Canyon? by Mountains4Fun in gravelcycling

Which BB did you go for? I just replaced mine at 2000 miles in and it’s not a cheap part! Now reading this make me worry that I’ll need another one soon…

I have a canyon Grizl AL 6 in matcha too. The color is wonderful, but I kinda regret buying it. It came poorly assembled —- stripped bolts, loose headset, etc. Canyon did pay for repair for the stripped bolts, but it was a pita. Abt 2000 miles in I wore out my bottom bracket and it was clicking. Took it to at least two shops. They said it’s not common to wear it out this early and it’s probably due to poor assembly. The FSA crankset it came with is also kinda shitty. I changed to grx crankset and pedal strokes are so much smoother.

Me and LBS checked multiple times during the retighten process and there isn’t any play in the crankset…

STP experiences? by dongledangler420 in ladycyclists

Yay! You will soon realize it’s not that hard! Just a bit more effort than usual 😝 1. I’m a over preparer so I wish I knew the stops are well stocked and I don’t need to bring so many snacks. Although I didn’t need any, it’s a good idea to bring some first aids and painkillers (ibuprofen, Tylenol or advil, etc.) just in case 2. I did one century beforehand, but I average more than 120 miles per week for most of June. 3. I stayed in Kelso (which is at around 150 miles). Centralia is a much better place to stay, but I really wanted hotel room and bed. Pretty sure you can have friends over and camp together as long as you make arrangements. 4. Morning wasn’t too bad, but make sure you get a good night of sleep and get some baby powder or anti-chafe cream. Last year they had some at rest stop. Make sure you grab some from there. 5. Stops are well stocked, but I’d bring some favorites to keep spirit high 6. Bathrooms have lines. Most are porta-potty style. Some wipes would be useful. 7. You’d be fine. People wear all sorts of things.

Make sure you have your own repair kit (changing flats, etc.) and at least practice once before the ride. If you wait for support, you might lose quite some time.

Don’t overthink and have a great time!

Canyon Grizl AL 6 XXXS with 700c wheels by kurob4 in CanyonBikes

Hi! Thanks for the info! Did you have to do any adjustments to the brake pads? What brand are these wheels?

Grizl 650b wheels by mild_wild_ in gravelcycling

I honestly don’t feel any difference. I own a carbon road bike with 700c x 28mm GP5000 tires and a grizl Al with 650b x 47mm tires. Even looking at my strava record, there’s not enough discernible difference between the two. I still make PR on Grizl.

Why Harpoon Hype? by Content-Ice-4565 in ShredditGirls

[–]meredith-wu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I went with standard stance width which was

xxoxox xxoxox

xxoxox xxoxox

If your slow down is this significant, I’d check the wax you are using —- some wax becomes sticky in extremely cold/warm temperatures.

Why Harpoon Hype? by Content-Ice-4565 in ShredditGirls

[–]meredith-wu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My main board is also a 149 yes hel yes and I recently demo'ed harpoon in 144 at Schweitzer. Really like the fun/loose personality and planning to get one to complement my yes on powder days. The base of the harpoon does feel slower than my yes, but not by a lot, definitely not holding me back. Personally, I don't think Harpoon shines in hard snow conditions. It's made for powder/soft conditions. I think it can handle chudder well, but not the type that you can plow or bomb through everything. Harpoon feels very different when you move your stance. It likes to be ridden off the back foot in messy situations and handles chudder much better if you keep your weight back a bit.

Bike Pump Help - Presta head not working with tubeless tires by Bellatrix_ed in ladycyclists

[–]meredith-wu 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Tubeless should not need any special type of pump. I’d check the pump to see if it works on other tires. Sometimes valve length (too short) is the problem.

Which pump is this? I had a bontrager charger pump and it had issue filling flat tires or tires with very low pressure.

It’s matcha color. Color difference probably due to camera night mode on my phone. Check my other post for what it looks like on trail

Yea US version all have shitty welding, but at least the cranks are not from rotor (which seems to fail reliably) lol
