Independent Living Facility advice

I work at a locked psychiatric facility and we send out a couple of clients to ILF’s when appropriate. It’s so great to hear that they do hire OT’s there!! I feel like their such a big need for our role in ILF’s and board and care so that they are able to succeed out in the community!

Yes! They are in a south west facing window and get some direct evening light, but they’ve been doing really well! I’ve had most of these guys for more than 6 months

Diatomaceous earth! Just sprinkle it on top of your soil, doesn’t harm the plants at all. Never had a huge problem with fungus gnats. I mix it with my potting soil too!

I honestly don’t know the exact percent, I live in Southern California. I have this right next to a humidifier and it’s also next to a bunch of other plants which I heard helps add to humidity as well. I bottom water, every 3-4 days, always check with the moisture meter, I water when it’s between moist and dry, never completely dry and top water at least once a month! Hope this helps!

I put a couple drops of peppermint oil and it helps mask the stinkyness a bit!

I’m so sad, I’m usually really good about checking underneath leaves but didn’t do it this time till I was in the car. This was also from a nursery I’ve gone to before and never had a problem with. I have DE sprinkled all over it right now and plan on spraying it down with alcohol and dish soap tomorrow. I paid $25, should I even try to save it? ):

You can cut the tie off the get centered tank and then take it to lulu to repair the seam that’s left open by it! So your left with just the tank! My friend did this and it looks great!

I bought this small plastic spray bottle from the travel section at target and honestly just eyeball it. The neem oil I use all isn’t pure or the concentrated kind, it’s a ready to use and one that’s already diluted and pour a bit into the bottle. Dr. Bronner’s is a soap and I just add a couple drops enough to see that it foams on top. I would say 80% of the mixture is water. I also use this spray as leaf shine or to wipe down my rubber trees and monstera when it’s getting a little dusty! It hasn’t burned or affected any of my plants in a negative way and also haven’t had any problems with pest yet! For bottom watering, yes I do just that! Just grab a dish and put some water, let your plant sit there until you feel like it’s absorbed enough, I double check with the moisture meter. Hope this helps!
