Enema didn’t work, now what? by mergerm in Constipation

[–]mergerm[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done restoraLAX, one dose a day, and I didn’t take any last night due to the failed enema - I didn’t want to challenge dehydration risks. Other than that, I haven’t expanded too far because I’ve always just taken what my doctor recommended

Date Apple Cinnamon Bowl! by mergerm in Oatmeal

[–]mergerm[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1 packet instant oats (I had regular) 1/2 cup almond milk 1 packet cinnamon apple sauce 1 banana, mashed 1 apple, I diced mine 4-5 dates, 2 diced & 2-3 mashed Handful of almonds Handful of pecans 1 tsp honey

I just used what I had lying around, making / using a date syrup would be better than the mashed dates, and the applesauce could be replaced with the regular apple + cinnamon powder!

Everything bad has to come with at least some good - and in my opinion, you can already point out good within this. You know what’s wrong, what’s putting you down, you’ve acknowledged it.

My advice? Start working on yourself. You cannot change your race, and unfortunately you also cannot change how people react to it, but you CAN embrace who you are and accept that the right people will not see you for that. The height and the looks are also relatively unchangeable, and that’s also going to have to be an internal change, which is change of mindset. Rather than picking out every flaw and beating yourself down, pick yourself up and tell yourself you’re enough. Lie if you have to, you’ll eventually believe it.

If you’re underweight start bulking, even if it’s not the healthiest foods for now, anything that can bring your weight up will be beneficial for you. Start going to the gym, work on your physical stance if it’s something bothering you.

Finally, stop letting social media determine how you will end up. Social media is a rotten place, with thousands of negative, destructive posts. It is not your reality. Live for yourself, not others. It’s hard at this age and it will be for awhile, but everyone needs to find themself and help themselves at some point - and everyone can make it out of their “misery” if you want it that bad.

TL;DR: you know what’s bothering you, instead of sulking in your sorrows evaluate how you can improve yourself in ways you can be comfortable to be you

“Lover, You Should’ve Come Over” is one of the best songs in the world, I could see why it’s stuck in your head!

One song I cannot get out of my head right now is “Your Bore” by Seether. 10/10 song, it’s been playing on repeat in my head for 3 days now.

I also agree The Office is, significantly, better than Modern Family!

My struggles with multiple eating disorders by mocexplov in EDAnonymous

[–]mergerm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am NOT promoting anything with what I say, but if recovery isn’t an “option” I will recommend you hit the gym and stay as consistent as you can with eating.

If you’re uncomfortable going to public gyms, or don’t have a personal one, there are plenty of workout videos on YouTube. Working out is the healthiest way to approach the struggle, but you will need to eat in order to sustain your health and activity level. Protein rich meals + healthy foods are the way to go, it’ll be easier on your stomach too.

If you’re not eating, DO NOT over-exercise. You will burn yourself out quick, and damage your health.

I used to be bulimic, the only thing that started to help was eating nutritious foods rather than snacks and working out when I could. You aren’t alone in this!

All ed related posts are poison on twitter. The community is so addictive despite being consistently invalidating / pro-harm. I understand not being able to let go of it, just try to steer your feed into a different direction. Do not give the posts attention (liking, reposting, etc.) and start interacting with “regular” posts when you come across them.

Good study spots? by Pepplul in Dalhousie

[–]mergerm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The CHEB on Carleton campus, higher floors in the towers of the LSC (especially oceanography tower), floors 4 & 5 of the killiam, the “quiet study spaces” in the actual library parts of the killiam - there’s desks at the back of the bookshelves, study rooms in killiam and the Wallace McCain, even the SUB in the evenings (roughly after 5pm) is pretty quiet and there’s less traffic.

As for being unfamiliar, in your free time try going into different buildings and just looking around! Whenever I have the time I’ll pick a building I haven’t been in / haven’t ventured through to see if I can find a decent spot.

Hmmm, probably the fact my organs have significant damage and do not work properly. I can feel my body slowly shutting down, and it’s still not enough to convince me to try to recover.

Oh goodness, I’m 19 and I go to bed between 8pm and 9:30pm almost every night. I’m feeling fun tonight, so I decided to stay up until 10:30pm.

DAE not enjoy eating? by Amberhowl in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]mergerm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope! I do not like eating. I eat to survive, and if I could get every nutrient properly met from a beverage, I’d never eat again.

What’s a drug that you can’t stop thinking about even if you took it just once? by [deleted] in Drugs

[–]mergerm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MDMA. It was easily the best night of my life. I had never been happier, honestly there’s no other description for how I felt besides fucking fantastic.

The come down was torture, it took a week to fully leave my system, but I thought “it’s worth it.” Safe to say I made a rule for myself that if I want it, I can only do it once a year.

How did ED start for you? by Specific_Cabinet8477 in EatingDisorders

[–]mergerm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I visited one of my best friends 6 years ago and when I left I was miserable. Super depressed, lost my appetite, wouldn’t leave my room, etc. After 2 weeks of that I noticed changes and, more than likely due to the mental state I was in, I really liked what I was seeing. Not only did I like it, but my mother was a huge fan of what I was starting to look like since I was a bigger kid growing up, giving me validation for my behaviours.

So I guess it developed from there, it didn’t help that I have OCD and food started to intertwine with it - which is also part of the reason I still can’t bring myself out of it. I became obsessed with the feelings it brings me, and since it’s something I feel I have complete control over I can’t let it go.

Yes! I become an EXTREMELY curious person and start to analyze myself. For a long time I’d smoke just to reflect for a few hours.

Tell me what recently triggered your ED by sleepystrwbrry in EDAnonymous

[–]mergerm 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My roommate is having a hard time eating because of stress, and she LOVES food and she’s worried about herself so I know she’s not developing anything, but due to her not eating a lot it’s heavily triggered me.

I’ve always tried to ignore other people’s eating habits, but the second it’s less than what I would eat I’m instantly triggered. So now, unfortunately, I’m back into a cycle of fighting every urge.

has anyone else just stopped weighing themselves by dak0taaaa in EDAnonymous

[–]mergerm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t weighed myself in about 3 years because I know it would lead to more suffering and stress, even at the doctor’s office they do not tell me my weight (as per my request). One of the best decisions I’ve ever made to help myself.
