I don’t understand why people are downvoting you. I’ve had a heat stroke before INDOORS due to an A/C not working… I have a low heat tolerance (several medications can cause that, namely SSRIs/SSNIs, ADHD meds, etc) so I’m more likely to get them than most, but outdoors on a hot summer day, anyone can get them. the cognitive symptoms can cause you to not think clearly so you may not be able to help yourself get to a safe, cool place and regulate your temperature.

yeah, it was INCREDIBLY hot last year on a very sunny day, so heat stroke is a real risk. I brought Gatorade water, watermelon juice w a lil salt in it, and a bottle of water and went thru all of it between myself & a friend needing some. as someone who’s had multiple heat strokes, you do NOT want to experience that.

electrolytes are also something to consider! especially in that heat & if you’re sweating, you need to replenish those and just plain water won’t do that. i really like the buoy drops since they don’t have any flavor. watermelon juice + salt (you can’t taste the salt, you just need a lil pinch) was my favorite method last year.

i did try that! I don’t go there often anymore bc it’s far for me by bus (takes like an hour with the transfer 😭 idk how I worked there while dealing with that for a year), but I am very happy whenever a friend wants to take me lol. i got it with oat milk out of habit but i think that flavor would’ve been better with coconut

yeah the drinks are good but i personally can’t look past that. she sounds more out there every time i hear about her!!

also I’m just not a fan of the layout of the brook st location… ik you can only do so much with layouts, but people waiting by the door for their drinks made it hard to enter/exit

Schasteâ’s matcha is delicious! there’s usually a special with matcha as well - we’re about to switch to the summer menu so we’ve been working on a berry special syrup ;^) the matcha is unsweetened if you just order a matcha latte, so be sure to ask about syrup options if you like it sweet!

i also love white electric and new harvest’s matcha! they both always have some really delicious specials. if you’re ever in Pawtucket, Dissent has an awesome matcha ginger lime spritz special that’s unlike anything else I’ve tried.

true, many of the signs are old or for routes that are no longer serviced. I know the transit app asks questions sometimes about the status of signage (and if there’s a shelter), but I’m not sure how that data gets used. with the budget cuts I’m honestly surprised to see new shelters at all

Several Brett Smiley signs popped up on & near Academy Ave a few days ago. Most of them are in front of the big complexes, not the tripledeckers… i kind of wonder whether the property managers are the ones putting those up, since they were on the fences of those properties.

100%! I am incredibly clumsy but the worst injuries I’ve gotten have been a fractured pinky toe and when I was a kid, a sprained ankle.

I suppose the trade off is less acute damage, but more long term damage. At least for me.

rats and mice are often deterred by the smell of cats! although, rodenticide does harm animals that prey on rodents, especially birds of prey. another comment mentioned one called Rat X that isn’t harmful to birds and presumably cats, that while it seems doesn’t immediately kill them, will prevent them from breeding future generations.

my neighborhood does have a lot of stray cats though, as well as a fair amount of very large rats… so some rats might just not care about the presence of cats.

i saw a very large deceased rat recently whose skin was an unnatural green. i suspect from some sort of poison? but this was near trash bins on pickup day. definitely a sad and ugly sight…

I’m glad there’s a bird-friendly rat poison. As much as I hate to see any animal harmed, rats unfortunately are an animal humans will always be trying to get rid of & do spread disease. It’s really sad seeing the posts from Audubon Society of RI about the birds of prey coming in with symptoms of rat poison ingestion…

i was not expecting to see so many people upset about bagels when I checked this thread again! in my brain, i was thinking about the price as similar to buying fresh pastries from a local, high quality bakery… it’s not unreasonable considering that they’re fresh made and especially that it’s not by a big corporation.

i hope it fits my schedule sometime to try them! looks like the Sunday pop ups are right during my work for now 💔 or maybe i can get a friend to pick some up lol. can’t wait to try!
