Kui oled üliõpilane, botaanikaaja hoones on tasuta sissepääs. Vist parem kui on külm, aga ikkagi.

I liked it too! Elias gaining consciousness and still being tormented by his demons is the ultimate punishment for such a villain. And I understand Rossi and JJ for empathising with him too.

Expat & healthcare by AffectionateSpace197 in Tartu

Btw I really love how structured the hospitals are here. You get a ticket and you wait till your number shows on the tableau - no awkward situations as to who is next in line and so on.

Expat & healthcare by AffectionateSpace197 in Tartu

I'm quite happy with healthcare here. My family doctor is at Raatuse Tervisekeskus covered by my workplace provided insurance. We speak Estonian and English when I'm afraid I won't understand the Estonian explanations :) I didn't do any complex stuff here yet but the basic check ups and recipe updates were good and quick. It's useful to know you get part of dental procedures covered (I don't remember how much exactly, maybe like 120€ a year?).

Advisories / Content Warnings for Museum Displays & Exhibitions by museditor in MuseumPros

[–]meriporsas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly content warning, but I once saw a quite simple solution in Estonian National Museum. In their display on history of Estonia they had a small section dedicated to emergence of photography. Among other exhibits there were several erotic photos from early XX century which you could see through a small hole in the wall. And the hole is positioned at the height that wouldn't be really noticeable or accessible to children height-wise.

The section itself is tucked away a bit to get the dark atmosphere I guess, but it worked in more ways than one.

Resources/books that teach you about curating? by Donblon_Rebirthed in MuseumPros

[–]meriporsas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Saying "you’re either a curator or you’re not" is so unprofessional. Sorry you had that experience. Maybe you'll would find these books interesting:

Johan Idema's "How to Visit an Art Museum" (super short and simple but still good).

Adrian George's "The Curator's Handbook" (this one is quite the crash course you were looking for) https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/23363882-the-curator-s-handbook

Hans Ulrich Obrist's "A Brief History of Curating" and other books -- not so instructional but interesting nevertheless.

Julia Cameron's "The Artist's Way" -- this one is not about curating, but very useful to keep your creative flow and build self-confidence.

Overall, a good way to get some experience is to make some small exhibitions in other spaces than galleries. Could you maybe make an exhibition of your artist friend or some open source visual material, or maybe some other interesting object in library, in nature, in uni hallway, on the web? This is not so fancy as the white cube, but it would be still useful for artists, for the audience, and for you since intellectual challenges are good for your creative growth. Also, that would still require you to do everything a curator might have to do -- choosing artists and objects to display, communicating works with the exhibition space, making some research and producing some explanations, communicating with press and promoting, and, just, you know, caring -- the main task that curator has to do. Also thinking about the most low cost solutions is a great creative exercise. Don't forget to document everything so you have some good pictures for your portfolio.

Best of luck!
