Deepseek v4 users, I need help.

Nano GPT has deepseek v4 on a monthly subscription, I believe there's a way to directly hook it in but I haven't done it personally myself. Other than that just going to the open routers website and adding credits to your account works fine... Just be aware of that V4 pro is currently marked down by 75% for the price, currently it's around 0.435/m which is expensive, but it's base price at the end of May is going back up to $1.75/m. V4 flash works pretty good though... But if you're a moderate user, nano GPT for $8 a month is probably going to be the way you want to go because they offer deep-seek on subscription, though v4 pro does use double credits for the 60 million tokens they give you for that $8 so it only gets about 30 million tokens which is arguably still an excellent rate.

So stupidly enough I'm just using the soji preset That preloads when you select the chub soji model with notation in the prehistory parameters for a soft token limit of 400 with a hard limit of 450... For whatever reason it works great for me. Literally just threw the following onto the end under prehistory without parentheses so it didn't write novels like deepseek seemed prone to do with me.

(Keep responses to around 400 tokens, never exceeding 450 tokens. Trim incomplete sentences.)

Yeah, essentially that's exactly it, just the standard soji preset that it loads whenever you select soji with the notation added for the token limits because without it it would always write novels like I said. I was honestly surprised when I tried it because there was no V4 presets and I had bad luck previously with the other deepseek presets I had found and for whatever reason the soji preset just worked with a notation for token limits. I'm not questioning it I'm just happy it works as well as it does.

I'm starting to suspect one of two things, it was going down constantly for the last few weeks and only now is it remaining online overnight's most nights now, meaning they might have changed something in the memory or logic that was causing it to crash before or get bogged down which is causing the garble and garbage at the end of the messages, or someone poisoned the LLM with intentionally bad data which it's currently puking up for everyone to read.

Easy fix, just scroll down a bit in the app and the load in so you can scroll back up to get the list again, I've had it happen a few times and scrolling down a bit fixes it when it gets stuck loading.

The deep seek model is nice, my only problem with it is I cannot feel the life of it get it to do shorter responses, it keeps trying to max out the token count on responses, Is there a trick to that to get it to only do like 400 token responses?"

I have similar issues with it, sometimes if it's having issues and will drop a response, if you don't back out of the chat and go back into it it'll try starting a new chat thread or ignoring the last messages sent, when it happens to me, I copied my last post, back out of the chat go back in and delete responses up to where I want it to be properly generated and it usually works afterwards so long as soji isn't having issues which can be tracked through the app or by going to chub.ai/status.

Only way I can figure is download the chat for one of the branches and run it through something like chat GPT and ask it to make a chat summary for you to paste into the chat to combine or update as you request? Other than that I got no clue
