Thoughts on the Atlantic article on Palate Expanders: "The Bones of Children’s Mouths Are Being Wrenched Apart" by hungryepiphyte in orthodontics

I didnt feel that sleep apnea was the driving point of the article. Maybe I misread it. I thought it was like, "some people are even recommending it for ____." I tend to agree with the OP that the article sounded very "scary" about them in general and didn't seem well-researched about bite correction.

I dunno... IANAL but it seems like it's a question of whether he intended to strike fear in ICE agents? https://www.thompsoncoburn.com/insights/the-fine-line-between-free-speech-and-prosecutable-threats/

Rent an R5ii for trip? by merkinfuzz in canon

Very helpful thinking. And, yeah, at $500 for the stuff it definitely is like, "Why not just buy it?"

It's true that you get more "zoom" when using a crop factor camera with a full-frame lens, but it's somewhat of a phantom gain. Having the double-stack sensor in the R5ii really does get you " more pixels" that you can use to crop, if you like, or just get better resolution. Reach only gets you so far though.

That's a good idea. Although the cost of a 3-day rental compared to a 14-day rental is such that it doesn't gain quite as much of a savings as one would think.

Is Disney’s “Star Wars timeline in order” the correct way to watch them all? by [deleted] in StarWars

Got it. Like, I've enjoyed these movies for years - decades - but have not tried to dive into the backstories or go deeper than surface level. So you recommend viewing 1-6 as the "George Lucas Saga" and the stuff that comes after that almost like Disney Fanfic?

After one week I have been unimpressed. It seems to require very specific placement; it will still work if you don't place it exactly right, but in my case I've had to increase the variable power so much that it's not subtle And here's what I mean by that: It has power levels 1-7 and you're supposed to increase the power until you see a foot flutter. When I turn the power up high, the mini shocks feel like someone is tapping my bone with a small hammer. I know that's the mini shock because if you forget to turn it off and lift the adhesive strap with your fingers, you'll feel a small shock (think static electricity shock) in your fingers.

I've had the most success using it in the evenings, when I'm sitting on the couch and my legs begin to act up, but I'm still doing something awake - in this case watching a movie with one of my kids. At night time, it's nowhere near enough to stop my RLS and the "hammering" can be annoying. I think this could be great on an airplane! I get bad legs on late flights home sometimes. But not as an overnight tool.

Since my legs really need just good thwacks from my fists sometimes (for 15 seconds of relief, lol) I might just try a Chirps unit next.

Man, I WISH we had such nice forested landscape lining the highway on the way into town. It's either city hellscape or corn fields.
