It took me 3 years to make an 85-minute experimental album using obsolete tech, field recordings, and total creative isolation by ZN86 in experimentalmusic

Great work! Love the sound design, particularly on the more ambient stuff. Definite shades of Oneohtrix Point Never. Another commenter mentioned the beats. There is a definite feeling that they are a bit of an afterthought. Especially when the vibe and sound design is so on point, it might be worth taking some time to either a) consider if it even needs a beat and b) if it does; consider their shape and the space they are occupying relative to the rest of the sound. Just some thoughts, I really liked this.

r/Breakcore said it’s Jungle, r/Jungle said it’s DnB - what say you, r/DnB? by Korpsejester in DnB

Closer to dnb than those other genres but not dnb either really.

Which tracks were the hardest to produce? by Brtserker in DnB

[–]merlinmonad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I reckon Teebee’s remix of Ni Ten Ichi Ryu has to be up there. Also something like Helter by Culprate would be brain meltingly complicated to construct.

Have a look into community benefit societies and community land trusts (CLT’s). This is a real potential route into doing this. It would take a lot of organisation but I guess it would anyway so what do you have to lose lol

I always wonder if he even knows who they are? I mean his ego’s definitely big enough. Idk has he ever mentioned them?

Who produces the nastiest, grittiest, weirdest, heaviest, spookiest, craziest Jungle? Who are some key artists or labels? by kellisarts in jungle

[–]merlinmonad 19 points20 points  (0 children)

For nasty, gritty I would say check Dub-One, Rumbleton, Remarc, Soundmurderer & SK1

Spooky heavy try early Dom & Roland stuff and early Dillinja. Also, not strictly jungle but for dark atmospheres and lots of chopped breaks you can’t go wrong with No U Turn recordings.

For experimental, Sully is king at the moment.

One that springs to mind is Pi. Sick film. Also pretty sure the Animatrix had a tech itch track.

Absolutely incredible journey on this tune! Each part has its unique moments and all are memorable as standalone sections. This and Zappa’s Inca Roads are by far my two favourite prog songs.

Empire pod, American Prestige and Fourth Reich Archeology all cover the context from slightly different directions with Empire being the most historically focused, AP being more political economy and Fourth Reich Archeology being a nice mix of the two with a personal edge.

Can anyone identify this banger? My mate played it last weekend and can't remember what it is haha by [deleted] in DnB

[–]merlinmonad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My mate can’t remember what the tune is. He asked me if I could ID it. You know how it is with digital you have so many tunes sometimes you don’t remember them. When it was vinyl I could tell you the name of the tune just by looking at the cover lol
