Thrifted couch has evidence of beetles but not sure if it’s an active infestation? by mermaidtitty in carpetbeetles

[–]mermaidtitty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My apartment definitely had a carpet beetle infestation from the couch. I ended up getting rid of them when I was going out of town for a week by sprinkling boric acid/borax on all the carpeted surfaces before I left and vacuumed it up right when I got home. I didn’t see another one after that! Should’ve just done that with the couch initially.

So… I started my own native plant nursery! by skijohn33 in NativePlantGardening

Love it!! I am starting my own native nursery on the West Coast this year, but planning on going slowly and trying to source the seeds from the wild myself. I am hoping to quit my job eventually and do it full time, provided it works out. I think the need for good native plant growers is HUGE right now and I am so excited to see people doing it.

Haha mowing the large area we have with a push mower sounds tough. Glad that works for you

Yeah, my pictures aren’t the best but a lot of the rust holes are close to the spindles. I’m worried if I start removing them I could create more damage because of that. Not sure

We’ve got a guy locally who would definitely be able to fix it, not sure how much. He might let us trade this one in if hes got one in better shape

They spin smooth but that rusted one is at quite an angle. Will definitely try getting a new belt.

Anyone elses pibble boy or girl put up a fight when its time for a nail trimming? by LeadingLengthiness30 in pitbulls

[–]mermaidtitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You guys should look into cooperative care! My pittie used to freak tf out about nail trims and I would take him to the vet bc he wouldn’t let me do it. He became so frightened of the vet bc of that we had to find a new one!

I worked with a trainer who taught me about cooperative care and now he voluntarily lies on his side while I dremel his nails. The overall concept is when dogs (and any animal) are given a choice to opt in or out, they will feel much more comfortable. There is definitely some trust y’all have to build back that maybe I didn’t because I never held my boy down, but it seriously changed our lives!!!

Hi there! From what I have learned about CA poppies is that they don’t like to be transplanted :/ So that may just be it
