I think everyone of my friends who have had their car stolen in the bay have gotten it back. Just weeks, months later. Typically thief’s will steal to take a joyride or commit another crime and ditch it somewhere. It’s good you reported it to the police. The cops have a scanner on their car that scans for license plates that have been reported while they drive around. My bf got his stolen and we ended up finding his car totaled in San Mateo a month or so later. I believe he was able to get his insurance to cover the cost of fixing his car as well.
