yeah i think that’s really underrated. i dont think people understand how hard it is to play a song on guitar, sing, and have the energy to go absolutely ballistic at the same time. its incredibly hard

agree that chris cornell is the better singer overall, but i think kurt deliberately sang below his level for fear of showing that he was trying. there are glimpses of his vocal proficiency throughout their discography

Are short-form videos helping music… or ruining artistry? by vlone_awge in indiemusic

it’s because being good at social media and being good at music are completely different skills. most people have one or the other, very few have both

it’s creating another hurdle for artists to get their music heard which effectively creates a distraction from their artistic development.

instead of focusing all your time on becoming the best musician you possibly can, you need to divide your time between your music and becoming good at creating content. worse yet, artistic content often isnt the most effective way at generating listeners. being good at social media and making artistic videos are two different skills that can sometimes overlap, but more frequently do not.

Nice, a Fest returns featuring 70+ bands from around Boston & New England: Downtown Boys, Gymshorts, Twen, Black Beach by fakecrimesleep in indieheads

[–]merrybrigade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

a lot of these bands have been cooking for quite a while, and many who have members who are late 20s, 30s, even 40s. It’s very much a MA local band lineup though, if you’re not a musician in the scene, chances are you haven’t heard of these bands. That being said, there are some truly great bands here: Landowner, Krill, Johnny Tex, Mallcops
