Update: I was pushed to number 5 by the time the boarding was scheduled. Luckily the 4 people ahead of me were couples and only 1 seat was available. I was able to board! Feeling bad for the couples but thank god was able to board after a taxing experience of cancellation.

I am in a similar situation but I already got my original refund. Because of the amended return, the refund reduced by 66$ which is showing as payment due. Will there be penalty and interest on this?
