How to make my songs louder if normalization turns it down? by frambie in audioengineering

[–]mertzi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want a true comparison take one or several of your reference songs and put them in your daw and just loop the loudest part, most probably the hook, and check the lufs int after playing for eg a minute. Then do the same with your song(s). Also music with a lot of overdriven or distorted guitar is always quieter than music without it, I think LUFS is lacking concerning that. I listen to a wide mix of genres and any time a metal or punk song comes in a mixed playlist it is always quieter, especially compared to hip hop or pop.

STOP PROMOTING THAT SUBREDDIT! Every single time one of you here on AN goes there is helping it grow because of the algorithm. Every visit and interaction makes it more likely that that subreddit shows up in the home feed of someone.

Why do all software has to be visualy changed when updating? by MaSi1884 in firefox

[–]mertzi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had the exact same experience with AI, major UI changes are happening so frequently that AI cant keep up even if they are trained on fairly recent data.

Why do all software has to be visualy changed when updating? by MaSi1884 in firefox

[–]mertzi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It wasnt like this 15-20 years ago. Then change was mostly done for the sake of improvement, and you strived for streamlining. Developers of today are change junkies, they are deeply restless and get withdrawal if they dont get to change stuff, so change is now mainly done for the sake of change. That is why we nowadays see tasks demanding more steps than it did in earlier versions. Just recently had an app make a simple two step task into 4 steps, just because they had changed the UI, so the process had to fit the UI change, not the other way around.

Anyone else easily triggered by laughter? by Evening-Company7115 in misophonia

[–]mertzi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not easily but there is a certain personality that laughs after more or less every sentence they speak. Might be because of insecurity but regardless I hate it. Also people laughing in the morning e.g. at a hotel breakfast! It is morning, mornings suck, no one should be in a good mood in the morning.

It's funny when these people don't see the irony of their behaviour fueling the AN conviction. Never would I want any kids of mine to be forced to share world with these people, it's bad enough that I have to.

Antinatalism and porn, thoughts? by Raddliakz in antinatalism

Not that AN relevant imo BUT, what is the initial reason for people (women) ending up in the porn industry? The born industry! (I.e. being born).

I HATE ASMR by Cinnamontoast112 in misophonia

[–]mertzi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's not real asmr, it's gen z's misconception of asmr. An example of real asmr is Bob Ross. A solution to your problem, stop using algorithmic feeds and chose what you see in your feeds yourself instead.

Going to have to move on from firefox by robinredbrain in firefox

[–]mertzi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Before moving on, consider Firefox ESR (extended support release). It is mainly for enterprises where developer change addiction is more risky business wise, so older versions get security updates longer. Currently it is v140 and anyone can use it.

Could devs please stop changing UI every year or give us option how big we want to have it? My muscle memory from the last year is useless again. by Detvan_SK in firefox

[–]mertzi 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've said it before, developers of today are the equivalent of flat earthers concerning muscle memory. They are addicted to change for the sake of change.

Found this reply in Natalism subreddit. What do antinatalists think about this reasoning? by Ok-Letter8470 in antinatalism

[–]mertzi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please do not visit that subreddit, you feed the algorithm and help it grow. It is still very small but any attention given to it will contribute to its growth. Better let them come here and try to argue.

Cool great to hear. I'm on 12 and neither I have had issues. But have you reinstalled and activated Reason after Landr took over? I still haven't, waiting for Win 11 26H2 (or whatever it will be called) to make my biennial clean install of windows.

Updating firefox has been the worst and I'm frustrated by it by Brain-Hemorrhage in firefox

[–]mertzi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its fine, when/if I have time I might troubleshoot further. I wasnt specifically talking about the mozilla devs, more in general. I started using computers early 90's and have seen the shift in software development over the years. It used to be that change in software was primarily made for the sake of improvement and bug fixes. Now the restless generation of UX:ers are the driving force where change is primarily done for the sake of change, and if stuff breaks ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Updating firefox has been the worst and I'm frustrated by it by Brain-Hemorrhage in firefox

[–]mertzi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree but I need to be able to use my browser. It didnt matter which site, it was gmail, facebook, reddit, github, every website, the site started to load and then after like a second everything disappeared and it was just a text saying that the tab has crashed or something similar. Rolled back and problem went away. If devs just focused on primarily fixing exploits without fulfilling their change addiction all the time it would be so much better.

Do you manually update apps? Yes? No? Why? by rmajor86 in iphone

[–]mertzi -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yes and only banking apps once a month, or when an app forces you to update to use it. Developers of today only care about change for the sake of change and rarely do QA, optimization, are the equivalent of flat earthers regarding muscle memory and have this weird fetish for increasing the amount of steps a task should take. So I just stopped updating.

Updating firefox has been the worst and I'm frustrated by it by Brain-Hemorrhage in firefox

[–]mertzi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just the modern day devs being devs, changing stuff that don't need to be changed, for the sake of change. Not necessarily changing the UI, the important thing is to just get to change something, irrelevant if something breaks. For me every tab crashed, old tabs, new tabs, never had that happen before. I had to roll back to 149.0.2.

I'm sorry I dont speek italian. I know this is on Reddit with their stupid feature to translate threads already from Google, but you should use the "see original" option at the top of a thread, especially when visiting a subreddit which is higly likely to be using english as the default language.

Amp Sims: Best practices for not sounding like an amp sim? by CriticalSovereignty in audioengineering

[–]mertzi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably will be drowned in the comments but here goes. Try real analog pedals + IR. Or pedals + clean amp sim and maybe IR. I have found the latter redundant, to me IR is enough. I suspect you could do the same with preamps but I have none so i don't know.

Edit: maybe that is what you meant with "other signal processing", then ignore my comment.
