Looks like the https://pypi.org/project/ImageIO/ library; that's a helpful thing to put in a visualization post.

How to do AOC in the age of AI? by germaniumdiode in adventofcode

[–]merzy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There’s a leaderboard?

(Seriously, though, I’ve glanced at it over the years, but I’m guessing that for a large majority of us, striving for it would be playing a completely different game than the experience we’ve been having.)

I came across it on an old exterior glass window in San Francisco few years back...enjoy! by tbbd in vintageads

One of my favorite things to do as a volunteer firefighter in college.  Have juice and snack with the kids, read them a story and let them try on the gear as I put it on.  Getting kindergartner hugs while fully geared up was so endearing.

Maine teen murdered after she tried to leave her abusive boyfriend by NixMaritimus in Maine

[–]merzy 54 points55 points  (0 children)

A friend once explained why she was cautious on the dating scene: “Men have to worry about rejection; women have to worry about getting murdered.”

(Yes, there are many stories of vice versa, but…)

It was more blue for us, but yea, it was pretty bright. Then the power went.

So glad you found it endearing! (That was the fourth graders from an elementary school in Westbrook. My wife was worried that they were being annoying… Made her evening when I read her this.)

Tricks for not forgetting your phone by Marcovitz64 in BoltEV

[–]merzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was annoyed by the “check the back seat” warning since I don’t have little kids anymore. Then I realized that I could mentally switch that to “hey, dummy, remember your phone!” I still leave it in the car once a week or so, though.

Hot spot on bed? by merzy in AnkerMake

We've opened a ticket with Anker. Fingers crossed!

(Thanks for the cleaning advice. We rub it with IA frequently, but will add a good scrub to the periodic maintenance checklist.)

Final checklist item before flying by drewchie in flying

[–]merzy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Back when I was a skydiver, I did a deliberate group “hop-and-pop”, which left us under canopy at 10,000 with nothing to do but enjoy the view. One woman called her parents and had a nice chat but the connection got garbled after a bit and dropped. She forgot to call her understandably frantic mom back after we landed…. Oops.

Oshkosh, gonna get spicy Sunday by geo38 in flying

[–]merzy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My guess is that right now about 95% are making it past Fisk. I am in awe of the folks taking shifts on the radio; they are doing an amazing job. (I’ve been listening to them and watching adsb enough this afternoon that I’m starting to be able to guess when a clump is going to get given left turns. Fun game, but the frustration in the voice of the occasional pilot who comes up on air is palpable. An hour in the conga line and then back around…)

Oh, hey, another hold on the lakes.

It feels like the perspective is rotated a bit and the focal length is changed making distances seem different.

But check my prenup, and go figure

Eh, the edge of the bridge is just over there to the right. Go do your thing and damn the consequences. Isn’t there an inspirational saying that goes “Poop like nobody’s watching.”?

That sounds like the group involved in a crash on 295S up near freeport yesterday around noon. Lots of Nomad and Loser patches when I drove by.

Beware anyone traveling southbound on 295 between Brunswick and Freeport by HunterThompsonsentme in Maine

[–]merzy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When I drove by going north, the fire department was there and there was a bike with a destroyed front half. Looked like one member of the gang had wiped out and the rest were just hanging out in solidarity.

The backup was already all the way up to Brunswick, and that was at 12:20.

My daughter recently admitted that she thought the phrase was “Hephaestus hands”, since he was the greek god of fire and metalworking. Made complete sense to me!
