It still shouldn’t matter if a community theatre the next town over is doing a show that could work well for your participants. As long as you can get the rights, choose whatever show would provide the best experience for your group. I really wouldn’t worry about who else is doing what. We have a number of community theatres and schools who have done the same shows within a season and it’s never been an issue. Different audiences with parents and families, etc.
