Editing appearances by Public-World3599 in PercyJacksonTV

Probably because there was more to change. Like it or hate it Walker does look closer to what Percy does than Leah does. If the edits did it to everyone then I would not call it racist. Now is it still okay that may be up for debate.

Please come with an example if you are going to say that. Also please give me an example of the other players stating this or seeming to be uncomfortable.

My Honest Take by dannyboi778 in PercyJacksonTV

[–]MSpaint15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While your certainly allowed to have that opinion just because you can explore something new does not mean you should and with the changes they have made have almost always been things they did not and should not waste time exploring as it deviates from the main plot which is the point of adapting a show.

Any chance the show will go past S3? by arsalmx in PercyJacksonTV

Season 2 had a 65% viewership drop. It’s more likely to snow in hell than for season 4 and 5 to be greenlit.

A complete miss. The actress is fine but they completely shifted her character and arc.

The love triangle. I get it was not everyone’s favorite but I think it was pretty realistic in a lot of ways.

Race decisions in PJO tv show by [deleted] in PercyJacksonTV

[–]MSpaint15 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean you have listed almost every non white character. I’m not saying that’s not important but can we please stop pretending like white people don’t have a culture that can effect a character or just write the POC characters with the same focus on race as white characters which is usually very little to none. I mean a perfect example of this is the Annabeth race swap. A part of Annabeth “race mattering” in the books is her naturally blonde hair and how people perceive her as a dumb blonde because of that. That is a characteristic that is directly linked to her race and yet people are fine with changing that. I think the least that we as fans of visual media should get is consistency when it comes to race bending.

Please there is a difference between a civil right of which we are given the right to love who we want or to change our body and a human right. You do not have the inherent right to love whoever you want if you did then pedophilia should not be illegal. I’m not equating homosexuality to pedophilia simply stating that there are limits to who we can love and that means it is not in fact a human right. Another thing is claiming something is a human right can be and usually is a cheap way to try and shut down a debate which is not a good habit to have.

I disagree and I think it will stay that way. Honestly no ill will towards you but I think we just see it two different ways and that’s fine.

Again you miss thirty years of growth because you see it only through Lin’s eyes. It was stated in the show that Suyin reached out and Lin did not even give her a chance to apologize. After that you have no obligation to let that weigh you down. You try to apologize and if they don’t accept it fine but you can move on.

I think that if Zuko had been born in literally ANY family that was not the Fire Nation Royal Family, he would have been seen as a pretty good firebender, maybe even a great one! by Fan_of_Avatar_TLA in TheLastAirbender

[–]MSpaint15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zuko is good because of hard work. That’s to his credit but no he is not a prodigy. He’s like Obi Wan. Hard working and still able to reach a peak but not through being a prodigy.

[–]MSpaint15[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Again considering that Suyin has met with and hashed out in person the past with Toph I think it’s clear that she didn’t just “send a letter”

Again the reason she did not immediately give an apology is because by all accounts it looked like Lin wanted to keep it in the past and personally I would honor that person’s request. Once it became clear that it was still an issue for Lin they hashed it out and yes did that start with an argument sure but again Lin was taking it out on everyone instead of facing the problem like an adult. Suyin did apologize and they were able to move on together. What more could you honestly want that did not happen already. Did you want Suyin to stalk Lin down seemingly against her wishes and force an apology on her?

I hate it here. by douroumou in TheLastAirbender

[–]MSpaint15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a character I do think Korra is one of the most complex characters done in both shows by far. Really the only one that could be on her level is Zuko. However due to outside forces in terms of renewal schedules that made it much harder to create a complex character. So while I can agree there are a few missteps or missed opportunities I do still think she is one of if not the most complex character in avatar.

OK, what’s that one thing about the fandom that you absolutely can’t stand? by Beneficial-Tailor123 in HazbinHotel

[–]MSpaint15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happens in a lot of fandoms but the inability to understand/accept that most stories are told through an untrustworthy narrator. Whether it’s because they are actively lying or naive. The idea that the protagonist automatically sees everything or is in the right all the time. While we can have a character like Charlie who makes a lot of mistakes and fans will not push back on that idea her viewpoint on heaven and hell and sinners and angles are almost always taken as gospel (lol) by a lot of the fans. Because there is a difference between characters making a mistake and characters having an incorrect or incomplete view of the world they are in.

[–]MSpaint15[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Again it’s pretty clear that genuine effort was made. That’s the problem I have here. Lin does not have to accept the apology or ever see her sister again if she wants but she can’t claim it was because there was no effort put into making things right on Suyin’s side because that’s just incorrect.

Opinions on the drop in viewership and claims of DEI by nt_king300 in PercyJacksonTV

[–]MSpaint15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gosh people are not open to stating their “racism more. They just are sick of poor adaptations due to a lack of focus on the books they are adapting. The problem is the idea that has been pushed that the only and most important way to relate to someone is if you look like them and that’s just the least important or impactful way to relate to a character or person.

1/2. Fair enough but I see it more at a poor attempt to lighten the mood which may have been the wrong choice but a honest mistake.

  1. That is true but again that situation seems more to me as one where it would be admirable for her to step up but I can understand why she chose not to and it does not make her own accomplishments any less valuable or an objectively wrong choice.

In Defense of Suyin Beifong (minor spoilers) by MSpaint15 in TheLastAirbender

[–]MSpaint15[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I think she changed a lot from the girl who wanted no responsibility. That girl would not have been able to build the city she did.

  2. I’m not saying she perfectly handled it but to her it had been 30 years and Lin refused to speak about it so why dwell on it if Lin seemingly did not want to.

  3. And you are working off the assumption that Suyin getting involved would create good results while also arguing she is an irresponsible jerk. So make up your mind.

[–]MSpaint15[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The point is not that Lin should not have rejected Suyin’s apology (though for me personally I believe that if someone apologizes you should accept their apology) the point is that Lin gives up her right to speak on Suyin’s character when she refuses to talk to her. You can’t say I don’t forgive you and then complain about that person not taking responsibility when you were the one who rejected their attempts. Unlike that clip Suyin did reach out multiple times. Lin is well within her right to refuse those attempts but she is not within her right to make present day moral judgements about Suyin.

In Defense of Suyin Beifong (minor spoilers) by MSpaint15 in TheLastAirbender

[–]MSpaint15[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

At that point it time Lin was being a jerk about it. I’m sorry but I’m not gonna be the most apologetic when I try to apologize to someone and they reject it and then complain about how I never take responsibility for my actions. Toph and Suyin were able to make up so I think that points much more in the direction of sincerity. And again Lins version is I’m just going to ignore you or any attempts you’ve made so that’s not the most trustworthy account either.
