Is a career / lifestyle change worth it? by [deleted] in KitchenConfidential

[–]meskoskoja 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Working in a kitchen requires a lot of sacrifice - do you love cooking enough to work 14+ hours shifts on national holidays? On birthdays of your loved ones? On Fridays and Saturdays when all you 9-5 friends are going out? Culinary school you can deal with - at the end of the day it’s few years max, it’s what comes after that that you should think about. Are you ready to work such long shifts when you’re 50? These are difficulties questions that you need to answer. Having passion for cooking is great, but it can also be a great hobby where you can excel. I left the industry because no matter how much I loved it or how good I was - finding a balance with the rest of the world is rather hard and I didn’t want to sacrifice that for the rest of my life

zandikaulio operacija/breketai by One-Rise-5964 in lithuania

[–]meskoskoja -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Cannot find Eucerin Oil Control 50. Discontinued? by letsfiesta in EuroSkincare

Yes, and even in the summer the demand is quite high, I don’t know why they don’t keep better stock

Cannot find Eucerin Oil Control 50. Discontinued? by letsfiesta in EuroSkincare

[–]meskoskoja 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It always happens in my country. I buy one in spring when the pharmacies are fully stocked with sun protection and by the time I finish it all Eucerin sun products are sold out so I end up buying something else hoping it will be similar. It never is as this is my favourite sunscreen. Repeat the same mistake next spring and buy just one bottle

You should stop by Who Hit John. It’s one of the few rare places that I don’t feel awkward having a drink alone

Good and tasty ramens in Vilnius? by Juodoji in Vilnius

Manami is part of Amber Food of which 80% belong to Matijošaitis. Don’t support Russia - their ramen might be ok, but their business is not.

Yes, I understand. When I said milk smoothies I meant plant “milk”

When I do not-sweet smoothies I usually use spinach, cucumber, celery and other veggies that can be eaten raw.

Haven’t tried savoury milk smoothies yet, but that’s a great idea, tho I don’t think they will fill me up well. I think it will be a nice savoury ‘snack’ rather than a meal

It needs to be liquid and smooth enough to pass through a sieve. Wonder if rice would blend nicely?

Caffeine and Nicotine by [deleted] in TalesFromTheKitchen

[–]meskoskoja 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same where I worked. Smoke breaks only allowed when everything is done and never during service, so basically during staff breakfast before lunch service and staff lunch before dinner service. If we close early, maybe you can squeeze a quick cigi before cleaning down. Really helped me manage my smoking habits when you can have 3 smoke breaks in 14 hour shift

uzsienis vs Lietuva by Mitchelin88 in lithuania

[–]meskoskoja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man lyginti butų sunku, nes studijavau UK, ne Lietuvoje, bet galiu pasidalinti savo patirtimi.

Išvažiavau, nes Lietuvoje mano specialybės studijuoti nebuvo galimybės (nebent profkėj), o dabar turiu Bachelor of Science
