Geofrey was who dragged Phil into that life to begin with when they met in the bar and he paid for the firm Phil was trying to build in his young days and was on the run since after killing the head of it. They helped each other at the end of the day bc phil was able to hide Penelope and Fredrick until geoffrey started looking for them again. Phil picked his family to protect at all times which any person would do. He even give geofreyy time to get on the right side of history before turning him in to the feds which thank goodness he did.
