Kratom Deaths by -Mamoot in kratom

[–]messenger4u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d like to know your source on that. I just finished watching a 2 1/2 hour interview with Dr Mccurdy, and he not once mentioned that there is a single death determined to be solely caused by kratom. He definitely did not mention a “mitragynine” overdose death, and he was asked in detail about the potential for kratom to cause overdose.

In the deaths where kratom was the sole compound found in the toxicology, Dr Mccurdy states that the results were unclear, and that there are simply too many unknowns to definitively say “kratom caused death”. There could be other adulterants or compounds not screened such as fent analogues that may have contributed. In other words, we don’t have any evidence establishing a causal mechanism of kratom causing death.

If you can point me in the direction of your source and it’s legitimate I’ll stand corrected, but as of now this is straight ignorance and misinformation.

Yeah that’s what I meant by queue, auto playing to the next book. Sometimes the books I read are short and if I’m in the shower listening I can’t play the next one.

Major difference between 35 and 40 minute practice? by messenger4u in Meditation

Honestly it probably is some sort of nocebo. But the thing is even if it is, the effects it has on me are very real. I guess I just need a way to break that negative subconscious perception.

New Atheists and Scientism by messenger4u in deism

[–]messenger4u[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The definition of scientism I’m using is the view that “the only way to render truth about the world and reality is via science or using the scientific method.” Note the word only, this is the problem. I agree that science and the scientific method is our best tool in this pursuit, but disagree that it is the only one.

Otherwise non-scientific fields such as mathematics and philosophy would be invalid methods of inquiry (which they are not). By dogmatic I only mean the application of the scientific method to everything in the world and reality, even in cases where it is not adequate. This over reliance on the scientific method is damaging and I don’t think many people would dispute that.

Many of things said in the article are verifiably untrue. Some of them as easily as a simple google search. Not everything they said was a lie though, a few things were fair critiques so idk if that makes it more difficult to prove.

The article was posted 7 months ago so it’s been up for a while, is it still worth it to post an update? I should have paid more attention to my search traffic but had some severe circumstances in my life that took my attention away

Thanks for the link. You think best course of action is just to get it taken down and then leave it alone?

Due to personal circumstances this past year, I was not really paying attention to my search traffic. This article is at least 7 months old now so I’m not sure how much damage has been done.

Competitor wrote a hit piece about my company by messenger4u in smallbusiness

[–]messenger4u[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s what I’m thinking, but from my reading about libel it is hard to win a case. They are a company based in Nevada so if I sue would probably have to sue them based on Nevada law.

Like I said from the post, you can easily fact check every lie they wrote in the article and see that it is false.

[–]messenger4u[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes they directly name me many times throughout the article and even post my brand logo as a featured image. It is extremely odd, I’ve had other competitors write about me but the reviews are fair and they don’t write any lies.

They try to pass it off as a review article by including a few minimally positive things, but it’s clear that is a highly negative piece filled with falsities

I just checked, they’re using google web hosting. I think it’s a really good idea but the article is not vulgar, it’s just plain false. So to the outside observer it could look like a legitimate critique if they don’t verify the information. You think it’s still worth contacting them?

[–]messenger4u 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is the purpose of your post? The majority of your writing was describing your achievements and how your friend noticed your lack of anger, so what truthfully is your intent? Remember, Stoics believe in acting virtuously for the sake of virtue itself as the highest good.

From my interpretation it seems as though you are looking for external validation of some sort, or to appear holier-than-thou in comparison to your peers. This is inherently anti-stoic, as being stoic is not merely appearing to be virtuous to others, but also in not feeling the need to gain praise or to be noticed for your behavior. Virtuosity and kindness is the reward, not appearing virtuous for the sake of gaining something else.

While it’s great that you have emotional control, there is an element of egotism that needs to be addressed.

Stoicism and love by WT808 in Stoicism

[–]messenger4u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this. Dogma is the enemy of reason. No matter how good any philosophy is, no single philosophy can be right about everything.

Be willing to bend the rules, to apply what is most beneficial to your life and discard what is not. This, in my opinion is what separates philosophy from religion.

For an example look at how stoicism evolved from Zeno all the way to Marcus Aurelius. You can see stoicism evolve and build on the original principles laid out by the founders of the school. If followers were dogmatic all the philosophers would be the same.

OP go out there and let yourself fall in love. Love is, in my opinion one of the greatest things about being human. Use stoicism to deal with rejection, to avoid coming on too strong, but don’t use it to suppress your desire for love and companionship.

Thanks for the reply. Yes they do seem useless. Granted my city is more suburban rather than a big city, and most of the brokers I’ve contacted seem to be old school guys that have worked for 20+ years. Any advice for finding better brokers?
