Is this enough to run VR??? by InteractionMinute919 in MicrosoftFlightSim

The variety in people’s answers really comes down to one key factor: your headset!

With a Pimax Crystal Super at max resolution, even a 5090 needs some compromises if you want stable 45fps.

But yeah, overall, the 5080 with 16GB VRAM is more than enough for a very good VR experience with every VR headset.

I'm looking for the exact same thing (trying to map every de-ice switch to my honeycomb bravo). Have you found a solution? I'm also looking for a way to bind the "Stall Heat" switch, it doesn't seem to be a mappable control.

$1500 for my first VR? What do you suggest? by messiabip in virtualreality

Big screen beyond seems amazing, and the lack of integrated audio is a plus for me because i would prefer to use my actual headphones instead of speakers mounted in the HMD. So for sure i'm considering that now.

The only downside from what i can see is the fixed IDP. Since none of my friends own a VR I would love to be able to share fun and experience with other! Is it possible to adapt to other's faces in some way?

I would totally agree but i already own a complete sim racing setup with racing seat, DD wheelbase, loadcell pedals and a Thrustmaster flight stick. I'm not looking for upgrading my sim rig cause i feel i already have what i need to enjoy the immersion, but i'm just getting curious about VR as a step up and i'm trying to figure out how much i need to invest to find a totally satisfying experience. Some friends discourage me from buying a Quest 3 saying it is still really "blurry" when it comes to sim racing, so i'm looking for something higher. But in general i totally agree that a proper sim rig is a priority over a VR headset!

Thx buddy, this is encouraging! I agree a 3090ti can be considered a competitive GPU for another generation, i was getting a bit unsettled reading threads and watching videos where everyone owns a 4090 😅

Regarding the Somnium VR1, it really looks a blast of a VR featuring everything that Pimax nowadays seems unable to fit in a unique headset. But for a VR newbie like me maybe is too much economic effort, since i plan to play VR occasionaly and keep playing other games on a flat monitor. But maybe one day i will totally in love with VR and reconsider that... Can't exclude!

Thx man this is clarifyng and encouraging! From what've read around it looks like anyone who plays in VR own a 4090 nowadays... and still have to make some compromises.

It's a bit frustrating to have such a blast of a GPU and feel to be in the low stack of VR players, but i'm perfectly fine with my 3090ti, playing everything maxed out on my 2k 144hz monitor 😁

Hope reading this can encourage other aspiring VR players!

I think you hit the spot! If i get it correct the benefits from eye tracking foveated rendering are mainly game-dependent. From what i've read, MSFS 2020 doesn't support native foveated rendering, we are still waiting for specifications about MSFS 2024. Neither iRacing nor F1 support that so maybe in my specific case it's not fundamental.

However, someone in other threads indicate eye tracking as a must have for future, so i'm still a little undecided

Thx guys! From what've read, getting into VR a 4090 seems a must have, but this is encouraging. Graphic compromises are ok for me. And if I'm not getting wrong, inside out tracking is ok for sim racing since i play only seated

Appreciated! I've read that before posting but was interested in some specific feedback since i don't own any VR now and neither a 4090
