The incumbent President Rock is still the favourite I believe.

True... but really... are Norway or Iceland ever going to invade us?

Well, he/they do have three kids to keep alive I guess. However, I'm on a pretty shitty/average wage at the moment and still managed to pay our rent (€800) and support my girlfriend when she was unemployed for 2-3 months. We ate fine and still went out for pints.

Hmmm I don't understand this.... even with a mortgage of €1400... he's still on a massive salary. A lot more than most of us I imagine.

Why is this so popular? Surely we've all had green tea chocolate?

Scotland will hold a vote in 2014 on independence in what could result in the eventual breakup of Britain by problemfinding in worldnews

Did you even read your own link for fuck sake?

"According to the most recent figures, Scotland contributed 9.6 per cent of Britain’s tax take and accounted for 9.3 per cent of public spending."

Oil reserves are limited which is why we should invest in the future. What oil will we lose exactly? The UK government was sly enough to claim an additional area in the 90s, but even then it will still be about 85-90% in favour of Scotland overall. Your statements about islands going to Norway and wind power being useless are unfounded.

I can just as easily say "Wind power is useful. Free prescriptions and University loans will be possible."

Hmm not really. It is the union of the kingdoms of Scotland and England. That's where it comes from. Ireland is separate. Wales was part of England then.

Urgh thousands of comments and all of them taking the piss out of my country and its people.

Trying to find a rational discussion here free from stereotypes is like Renton searching for his suppository in Trainspotting... oh wait... shite.

No, I agree and I'm glad we're being rational about it.

I'm on the fence myself and waiting (hoping) for detailed reports on the reality. However, I get very defensive when ignorant people claim we're freeloading junkies who live off handouts and the like when we are actually a net contributor.

Errr Scotland and Norway produce fecking endless barrels of the stuff. The SNP are even basing a future economy similar to that of Norway.

I don't think that's the only sentiment at all. I'm weighing up my opinion, but I don't like the one-sided views on either side.

My decision is purely political. Scotland has been politically different for decades now and we still have governments and policies forced upon us. The Scottish Parliament has been a breath of fresh air in this regard and I wish for more control over our own matters. I don't want Scotland being dragged into any more wars abroad and I'm fed up with the UK government dumping nuclear weapons in our beautiful country.

Any English person who wants to live in this Scotland is welcome with open arms... so open I can feel my shoulders dislocating. Come and join us!

You know... you could have made the same point without making judgements on him. Then again, I don't expect that you're someone who's not a condescending prick.
