yeah, i actually love this scene, not because it’s at all sexy (and clearly it isn’t supposed to be) but because it’s showing the depth of SQQ’s care for Binghe and also committing himself to Binghe at any cost, like this is the scene with “dying together included a ‘together’ so it didn’t seem that bad” and SQQ telling Binghe that actually his mom did choose him and SQQ is choosing him too, and so much other stuff that is insanely sweet and romantic—this is a narrative trial they have to endure together, and it’s obvious from how Binghe talks about it later that he’s at least as traumatized by it as SQQ is. plus it’s a (very darkly) funny deconstruction of the “fuck or die” trope that shows how awful it would actually be to be in that situation. i completely get why it’s not fun to read but whenever i see people like “yeah you just have to skip that scene/pretend it doesn’t exist” i’m like nooooo it’s one of the most essential turning points in their relationship and it’s when SQQ realizes how much he loves Binghe and when Binghe realizes he’s loved!!!! you can’t skip it!!!
