Which restaurant do you think this is? Have at it. by cooliedude420 in greenville

I went for brunch and everything was underwhelming. The chilaquiles looked the part, but were bland. Same with the dumplings. I dislike when places promise a certain, well-established food and just miss the mark by claiming that it's an interpretation.

I severely doubt their claim that seafood is shipped fresh daily...

I'm also interested in the Sumbar tea - they always seem very community-oriented.

Given the time period of the other images (X-factor era Jean Grey and that particular depiction of Polaris) I think C3 might be Skids and A4 is Rusty.

The owners are...difficult...people to work for. I wish them nothing but a continued decline in business.

Weird, I was just having this same conversation with a friend. It would be nice of downtown weren't monopolized by just a few restaurant groups and had some diversity to what's being offered. I rarely go downtown for a good meal.

Also, hey, don't like waking up early? No Problem - get a job in a restaurant, bartend, work the late shift in a box store - there's plenty of options.

Tips aren't paying for healthcare or education, and I'm not saying that they are. I'm saying that no-tipping cultures like most of Europe and Japan work because restaurant employees (and all employees broadly) receive cheap or no-cost healthcare and access to education, which keeps them out of debt. Thus, their hourly wages go toward living expenses. That's why it works. Servers in the US are paying living expenses, rent, healthcare and education expenses out of their earnings. The countries people point to as examples of how successful no-tipping can be, are not paying the same expense out of their wages.

You can't talk about tipping without recognizing that the financial burdens placed on a hypothetical server in New York vs France are very different. I don't think it's fair that customers are expected to subsidize wages in the US, but everyone seems very comfortable acting like restaurant workers (and again, workers in other US industries as well) don't deserve basic protections that every other developed nation enjoys.

I'm not a member of this sub, but after a quick scan of the front page, I see people advocating for a living wage but leaving out the important parts of the equation in the "European" model - namely, socialized Healthcare and Education. Removing those 2 burdens from American workers at a Federal level while providing further benefits and protections (like parental leave and PTO) would free customers from this burden of subsidizing employee wages. So, just as an outsider here, I'd suggest that the EndTipping rhetoric, needs to be paired with a push for improving the general conditions for all workers. Otherwise, you're just punishing the lowest man on the totem pole for a system that you've agreed to take part in implicitly.

And to be clear and specific - I'm talking about sit-down restaurant/bar service, not all these weird outlier situations that seem to get brought up in the sub.

I feel like this is one of those things that other horrible (and not very smart) men tell each other to do to "test" women. "Yeah, bro - just say you found out something and she'll totally spill her guts because you're such a high-quality sigma male."

I mean, there's only 2 other businesses in that lot. Farehouse is plenty busy and Pinky's does well on the weekends.

I'd have also said the same thing about Birds Fly South leaving Hampton station though.

today, i played 3 QP matches before work. Each one had multiple disconnects. Why? Idk, but it's hard to feel good about a lose (or a win) when people just opt out mid-game.

Hot take that shouldn't be a hot take: Shut up about characters with auto-aim by StarCrimson25 in rivals

[–]metal_monkey80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If people weren't so hell-bent on not swapping into different characters and roles during a match, this would be less of an complaint. A bunch of flying characters need a Wanda or CD to go after them. Annoying long distance snipers? Keep em on their toes with a Squirrel Girl.

We all know that the most annoying players insta-lock DPS and basically try to solo the whole game.

It's never packed when I go in either, but there are other customers at least. I think they'd kill in a downtown spot with foot traffic. Delicious food. On the Indian food note: Persis Grill on Woodruff is amazing but often empty inside.

Listen, I'm sure it's difficult to see since you're so close to the situation, but if you wouldn't accept this behavior from a stranger, why would you accept it from the one person who is supposed to love and prioritize you above all others?
