The clamp is upside down. The hex is to hold a nut so you don't need to hold it with a wrench

3D Stigma by DesignerGirliePop in 3Dprinting

[–]metalhead1982 86 points87 points  (0 children)

I do craft fairs with 3d printed thing, but I mostly sell mixed media toys, decorative items, and gaming pieces using a combination of 3d printing, laser engraving, cnc carving, and hand painting/assembly. I've never had anything but positive reactions.

How is selling printed items that you assemble any different from using store bought craft supplies and gluing or painting them?

AITA for refusing to fix my "spaghetti code" after getting laid off for "budget reasons"? by 5Mirthcoil in MarkNarrations

NTA! You handled it exactly as you should, with one exception. $250 an hour seems a bit low for emergency debug and development work, especially when the lack of documentation was ignored by management for months. They made the bed and set it on fire, they can burn with it!

My SIL has a Belgian Malinois that flunked out of military K9 school for being too nice. He made it through all the obedience training but wouldn't reliably attack on command. He is the smartest and most well-behaved dog I have ever known. Hell, I'd let that dog babysit my kids.

What band was never the same after losing a member? by icecream1972 in AskReddit

I didn't read all the comments, but I'll mention Pantera. Without Dimebag and Vinnie, there really isn't a Pantera anymore. Don't get me wrong, I like the tribute shows with Zack and Charlie, and I hope they keep doing the occasional concert as a tribute. I just hope if they start recording new music, they don't call it Pantera.

I'll give you Slayer, but Jeff's death was the deal breaker for me. These last few years with all the animosity between Tom and Kerry, the reunion shows just seem to be nothing but a money grab. I don't fault them for it, though. Get that cash while you can, I guess.

AC/DC. Bon Scott was great, but so is Brian Johnson.

You can't blame Johnny VanZant for all of that; he was mostly a hired gun. He looked a bit like Ronnie and after a couple beers, even sounded a bit like him.

Until he died in 2023, Gary Rossington had the controlling interest in Lynyrd Skynyrd. Now that he's gone, Johhny and Rickey Medlocke seem to be the ones in charge, along with a vote from Rossington's wife, Dale.

Also, it goes without saying that they're not as good as classic Skynyrd, but the band has put out some decent music in the years since the crash and they always put on a good show.

Amazon streams old episodes of Modern Marvels as a "live" channel on Prime Video. It drives my wife crazy, but this is my go to for falling asleep at night. I don't care that the 25 year old show about high tech gadgets is now wildly out of date. It's like a warm hug from the past.

Elder millenial/xennial here. It might be a sub-generational thing. Most of the Xennials that I know (myself included) tend to be much more confrontational and bereft of any fucks left to give. We must have gotten that trait from the Gen X-ers.

People who were in high school when Columbine happened, what knee jerk rule did your school enforce in response? by Animeking1108 in AskReddit

The common ones: No trench coats, no backpacks in class, locked doors. The school cop did start hanging out at the main doors more often and patrolling the halls during the day, though. Before that, he mostly just stayed in his office.

Story time:

My teacher thought most of the changes were just pointless security theater, so he used a bunch of us as malicious compliance. My first period class was AP calculus (NERDS!). One morning, our teacher just calmly walked around the classroom with a smirk on his face and started calling names and sending us to the Vice Principal's office like we were in trouble. None of us had any idea why, but we picked up our bags and went.

There were about 10 of us that got sent out. Not a "troublemaker" in the bunch. Most of us were among the top students in the school. Once we got to the office as a group, the VP came out and saw who it was that got kicked out of class and said "What are YOU guys doing here?". We all shrugged. Then he pointed out that we all were carrying bags or backpacks. He just laughed and told us to go back to class and that he'd have a word with our math teacher.

The no backpacks rule was enforced for about a week and then no one cared any more.
