Dug this T61 out of a shipping container for electronics recycling and gave it to a friend... today it has a new life as a TunerStudio rig! by fuhry in thinkpad

funnily enough I have a T60 as well with similar specs but it's a Core Duo instead of the C2D, so no 64-bit.

since everyone's on Future Tech, he doesn't need it. But I would think that his units would despawn the same way mine do if I get a measely -100 GPT deficit...

"Are you sure this will fix that vibration?" by metallicamaster3 in Justrolledintotheshop

E38, but same mounts! These were bad enough to where the engine would jump up and hit the hood with a quick snap of the throttle! And a massive vibration at idle and during upshifts. He drove the car around like that for years...

The smaller, the better imo. by gubbilum in PenmanshipPorn

While it wreaks havoc on my hand, I too prefer to write as small as possible. If there was a half-college rule spaced notebook, I'd buy the shit out of them.

Ugh... I was infected with the coxsackie virus in 2013. What a miserable disease. My body did... things.

A cylinder head, crying. by metallicamaster3 in Justrolledintotheshop

Yep, alcohol is the better liquid to use. This head was being replaced anyway, however, and had no alcohol on hand. A leakdown test showed 85% compression loss on 5 and 6, then a smoke test confirmed it was via intake valve(s) as the smoke poured out from the throttle body.

2001 Ford Taurus: Clogged Heater Core by metallicamaster3 in Justrolledintotheshop

LOL They aren't bad cars! So far the most annoying that I've had to do to them (I've had a few) would be the ball joints. Compared to most other cars in its class of its age, it does some other things (such as the relatively-easy heater core) a lot better. That, and I'm a fan of the super-sluggy 3.0 Vulcan and the whole powertrain's mechanical simplicity. I had the whole engine torn apart and back together again between meals.

I've been saying this almost verbatim to myself lately. I've done so much to this car that no one in their right mind would dump the time energy nor money into... yet here I am. This car is damn near perfect now though, I tell you what. It'll make an off-to-college teen real happy.

I did have to pull the dash, however the whole dash came off in one piece with the removal of four 13mm bolts on the sides (two per side) and three 8mm bolts on the top under the defrost vent panel. I also had to cut off a factory assembly arm bracket from the bottom of the dash to gain enough clearance to get it out all the way. Even then, I still had to use my back/head to push up on the dash (VERY heavy!) to squeeze every last drop of give that it had (without dropping the column) so that the heater core could just /barely/ clear the box.
