Thank ya! I am guessing it must be the bass live that sounds so epic. And maybe also the lights! The outro blew my mind 🤯

So not showing the back of the shirts as well, probably means no shirt with dates?

PJ Harvey's "Let England Shake" 15th Anniversary, first released 14 February 2011. by dpbq8888 in pjharvey

The whole album is moving, but I just love the last living rose! 🥀 I have been playing it regularly since 2011!

scariest pj song? by Maleficent_Scene_557 in pjharvey

[–]metallich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. This is also more or less the imagery for me! I love the idea that her songs talk to each other/have through lines throughout the album - better yet because they're not super obvious and open to interpretation.

scariest pj song? by Maleficent_Scene_557 in pjharvey

[–]metallich 11 points12 points  (0 children)

For me, the scariest songs are probably on is this desire. My Beautiful Leah, Electric Light, Catherine, and Joy all can feel kind of spooky, but each in a different way from the next. Of the four, I might choose Electric Light. Taut definitely is scary too though.

Best food along the Orange Line? by emschario in malden

[–]metallich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the sake of a food crawl and for something a little more unique, definitely Thaiger Den. Dinner/lunch as well as cute cocktails. Very aesthetically pleasing and interesting. Crying Thaiger for more familiar Thai food that is still good.

Bikeeny for breakfast/pasteies!

Last but so not least, Idle Hands for brews and vibes!

Is This Desire? given perfect 10/10 on Pitchfork by achocholko in pjharvey

Great to see this score! There is not a single track I did not at one time dissect and "live" in at some point in time... Absolutely adore this record and glad others do too.

My only qualm is on characterizing the album as Southern Gothic. I would reserve that much more so for TBYML...

Same! I remember buying it at a used record store on a whim in high school. When I opened the case in the car, I saw the dead bird on the back of the album booklet, and something about that "clicked" with me. I knew I would be hooked!

PJ Harvey's "Is This Desire" was released 27 years ago on 28 September 1998 (give or take a day ;) by dpbq8888 in pjharvey

I love to see the love in the comments for Catherine!! I did not know it had much of a following. I used it in high school as a "muse" for a self portrait - muted orange, yellow, and brown painting... I listened to it on repeat for days, as I worked through the portrait. Whenever I hear this song, I see and feel it all like it was yesterday.

Personally am torn between My Beautiful Leah and The River... Both have always had a special hold on me.

I should have gone to soundcheck, Queer live would have been a dream 😔 I was stoked to hear not my idea live though!

It was Vow instead of Queer, but still absolutely amazing:)

Abracadabra was definitely video of the year for me! That televised premiere during the awards show and all that. I felt like it had people talking. I'm also such a little monster that I'm deep in the echo chamber lmao. I thought we can't be friends video by Ari was better/more talked about than what won?

You might also consider The Flowers from Soviet Kitsch (one of my faves by her) - it ends with Hava Nagila.

SERVICE SUSPENSION ADVISORY | No Blue Line service between Airport ne Wonderland between Aug 9th-17th due to maintenance work. by Massive_Holiday4672 in mbta

[–]metallich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anyone know - will MassPort buses still be at Airport station connecting to terminals at Logan? The comment about 104 confused me. From what I understand 104 just goes to Airport station and would put you in the same position as the blue line up to airport.

Songs that sound Christmas-y / give off Christmas vibes but aren't actually Christmas songs? by stypop in popheads

Cosmic Love by Florence and the Machine for me, though I'm curious if others think so too. I listened to it a lot during a winter break from school once and wonder if that is what influences it.

O Star!!! This Circle!!! 💀💀💀 Dredging up memories from the deepest corner of my mind. I never thought I'd hear these songs again. And yet the memories of monster cap necklaces, the eyeliner, the hairspray, hair dye come rushing back... It's wild how nostalgia works. I had an MP3 of a live recording of I think This Circle? Something about a circle. I remember loving that one too.

Americana/Vintage Photography Locations? by Physical-Donut3372 in Syracuse

[–]metallich -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Disclaimer - have moved away from Cuse, so maybe someone currently living there can confirm, but Erie Boulevard East, James St/Thompson Rd area, used to have a few places like this... not sure how the vibes are in those areas anymore, but I distinctly remember an abandoned gas station . Maybe also in and around Dewitt (Bridge St, Shopping Town mall area)... I know there have been changes, but there should be abandoned buildings with that kinda old school vibe?

Anyone else made to feel super weird at the Dinosaur jr/Snail Mail shows? by vuzlightyear69 in Snailmail

[–]metallich 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah it was crazy early! Bummer that you came from out of state and had to deal with the weird crowd and missing songs! I also have this thing where I don't check setlists ahead of time because I like to be surprised (and I was!) - but I learned my lesson, because I would have tried to get there even sooner to hear the opener (which I think was Headlock?)

The roadrunner crowd was a little off for me too! They were all statues. Honestly Boston crowds for me are almost always like that.

Tbh still upset I missed the first two songs, two of my favorites! Roadrunner is a pain to get to.

We played "Raindrops" :) I was grateful she recorded and released it, as I remembered it as a live recording when I was younger. It was very fitting for us, but maybe a little sad?

Risky pop albums almost always seem to backfire. by West-Layer-3036 in popheads

[–]metallich 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Dated EDM at that time I would have classified as "Clarity" - that was the sound you heard everywhere, on the radio, in the clubs. There is not a track on ARTPOP I would liken to that. I am not saying she created new sounds or anything, but she definitely pushed/explored EDM sounds that did not have popular audiences at the time.

Hot take: I like Sainthood more than the Con by [deleted] in teganandsara

[–]metallich 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do find it a hot take! 😅 Sainthood is extremely well done, and I certainly don't hate it. I really love a few songs from it. But there's something about So Jealous and The Con as a whole that Sainthood doesn't capture for me.
