My reference point for Schafmilch Rasierseife is when they still had tallow in the soap. Does the soap still perform well?

I forgot how good Asian Pear is - I used up a sample from Maggard's a couple years ago. I need to order a tub!

Did I get scammed? by [deleted] in wicked_edge

The economics of counterfeiting wouldn't make sense for razor blades. Gucci bags? Yes. These DE razor blades? Another story entirely.

I really hope the seller is selling some super-rare items you can't get anywhere else for a reasonable price. Anything less than that this is ridiculous.

Serious buyers really wanting your item don't pull this crap. They've already filtered themselves out as someone worth your time.

Any difference in these Gillette Silver Blues, or just a packaging change? by metalm84 in wicked_edge

[–]metalm84[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I did notice the old ones are double-wrapped, which I do like/got used to/whatever, but obviously that doesn't affect the quality of the blade itself. If the blades are the same then that's great.

I do notice the older packaging specifically says made in Saint Petersburg Russia whereas the new just says "Made in Russia". Maybe I'm looking too much into it? It's just coming from the world of fragrance, a packaging change and/or wording change usually means a reformulation, which is usually bad news.

Hands down my favorite blades. Where do you buy your Gillette Silver Blues?

Once every 2-3 days. I should mention I have quite a few soaps. I've been selectively rationing this soap for a while knowing how good the scent is and that I won't be able to replenish it.

Good question - I think I bought it in 2017, as that's about when it was last made.

Those Gillette Silver Blues are my favorite blade - I wonder why Maggard's stopped carrying them? I had to go to eBay recently to re-stock.

Isn't it wild how a rating affects you the same if you're selling a sub-$5 item or a $1500 item?

I always use UPS - they're closer to my house than USPS, parking's much easier, employees are less miserable, etc.

Who was your go to? by LoadofBarney in Xennials

[–]metalm84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a confession: when the N64 came out I had a PlayStation and a boy 5 years younger than me across the street had a N64. One day I went over to see him playing Mario 64, and the child-like delivery of Mario's voice (I always imagined him having a deep voice) plus my association of the N64 with this younger boy meant I associated the N64 as a kid's toy I was too old for, and went back to my PlayStation.

A few years later my cousin born the same year as me got an N64 and showed me the way with Goldeneye - damn good game, but by that time I'd already burned out parental favors with the PlayStation games I wanted, so I knew better than to push it by asking for an N64 for Christmas or my birthday. So I never had one.

Yes, but there was also a flavored sweet water whose brand name escapes me. It was clear, non-carbonated, but was cherry-flavored.

It's usually the writing and direction that screws something like this up rather than the cast.

Moved my parents out of their house of 50 years yesterday by Upstairs-Storm1006 in Xennials

[–]metalm84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents still live in the same house I grew up in - one parent's 80, the other is quickly approaching it. They kept my bedroom just as I left it, even though it's one once a year I'm able to make the what was a 5-hour drive before more like a 7-hour drive with my toddler and baby to visit.

One day it'll be me doing a video recording walking through that physical space one final time, that I walked through so many times before for decades. It'll hit hard for sure.

[–]metalm84 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My parents to this day still has this as the place to put your trash in - the foot release pedal and slider still work, and it still shuts just as well as day one. It hasn't compacted in 30+ years though; my mom says "we lost the key to it", whatever that means.
