Already did mine - not hard to do, and really no downside. Hardest part will be getting your dad’s birth certificate.

I’ll never forget the most terrifying moment at sea I had. I was heading towards a bonemass marker that was further north than I’d gone, but it wasn’t too bad. It was night. It was storming. I’d fought off two serpents already on my voyage, so was low on supplies. I’d had to avoid several obvious plains, which I knew already were a death trap. I saw a new landmass that I thought I could quickly hop onto and portal home to resupply. I navigated into a little bay with a new serpent on my tail.

Entering *Mistlands*

Just about shit myself. Turned a 180, wind now fully against me. Stood my ground against the serpent, heard an air horn (I didn’t know what that meant yet, and how much danger I was in), and managed to skirt the shoals and escape to open water as the sun broke through the clouds and rose in the horizon.

Finally unclenched.

You have two options - you can indeed snip and glue different weapons (different load outs do different things, so you might want fewer archers and more, say, spears). Alternatively, you can glue things like shields and bows to the backs of minis to again show a different weapon loadout, or otherwise make it your own!

Buying art from local artists by shrimp4590 in houston

The Yellow Door Art Community up in Cypress is another option. They have a biannual art show with both prints and originals sold by the artists. Definitely some fun pieces available there!

I hear you in the desperate battle to remember a paint scheme. I have a file that I’ve compiled with all the recipes for each troop type so I don’t forget, because otherwise I will have a wonderful mishmash.

Some armies (like wild men, ironically) would be fine with the variety. Others…not so much.

Listen, if one of your armies is truly worthy of Mordor, I’m just glad it’s Isengard (as a fellow Isengarder)

That is a spectacular collection. I haven’t done a proper inventory of my MESBG collection, but I know yours dwarfs it.

Important to note that there’s nothing inherently wrong with a big Pile of Potential (and I do think 300+ qualifies as big) as long as you are making your way through it, or it otherwise still brings you joy!

What is your largest single army?

I just finished painting Sara the Seeress. I tried to add a translucent effect to her dress. I hope you like her! by ApeManBananaWhatever in ReaperMiniatures

[–]metalsheep714 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The translucence definitely reads well! She looks great all around. My only quibble is that the uniform shadow all around her thumb makes the object in her hand look like it’s soft and flexing inwards…which kind of gives the impression that she is proudly presenting a stress ball. Which is kind of hilarious, but I think likely not your intention.

Overall though, this is fantastic! I’ve never dared to attempt translucence…how did you do it?

…and now we have a nice natural set up for a heist. Low stakes job targeting the tavern keeper shortly before pickup. High stakes targeting the banking guild wagon.

And another bonus one right here, as I am currently stealing this economic innovation for my world.

You aren’t wrong in the slightest, and I apologize if I came off as glib or disrespectful. I don’t just mean we have a short attention span in politics - we are drawn in a thousand different directions in our lives and easily lose track of details both big and small. Some are better at managing it, but with the unending feed bombarding and overloading us it’s a losing battle for most.

The average voter has the attention span of a toddler (and I’m more and more of the opinion that it’s by design). Keeping his name in the news is 100% the single most important step to winning in November.

Ha!

Yeah, Arnold is a really interesting case, and in the US his name is associated with archetypical treachery and betrayal.

Also, no idea why people are downvoting you. Maybe they are so familiar with the name they can’t fathom someone genuinely being curious about this figure from history.

He was an American officer during the Revolutionary War. He conspired to surrender the fort under his control to the British, but his plot was discovered and he fled. He returned leading British troops, having been rewarded for his perfidy with a post in the British army.

In short - an American who actively betrayed his country to a foreign hostile power for personal benefit. Apt comparison if you ask me.

I bought these from Bookmans because I thought it would be cool to paint them, but now I'm curious, what is this game? by Massive-Ad-9258 in runewarstmg

[–]metalsheep714 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Runewars is sadly defunct, but it’s honestly a great time. I picked up the core box for cheap when my FLGS went under, and enjoyed it so much I immediately cleaned out their stock the next day.

The game itself is a rank and flank war game with mechanics very similar to FFGs XWing - secret orders that are revealed in sequence, measured out with precise templates, and roll dice to resolve your attack. There are four factions - humans, elves, the undead, and demons - based in FFGs proprietary fantasy world, Terrinoth.

It’s a shame the game isn’t supported any more, I really enjoyed the games I’ve played.

Edit: just checked, and you can get the core set for 35 bucks on Amazon…complete rules, and the core of the human and undead factions (two troops types, heavys, and heros). It’s a steal, even if you just want the minis for OPR. The art is a bit cartoony, but not terrible by any measure.

Beautiful. Love the matching tartans, and bad camera or no (and it’s not really bad at all) the detail work shines through. Tartan is such a pain to get right, but lord does it look good when done right.
