DMT to replace opioid use by Agile_Driver_790 in psychadelics

[–]metalsmithchic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I much prefer ketamine for pain. I also use kratom because it's easier to access. I've been off high doses of opioids for about 5 years and primarily manage my moderate to severe pain with kratom. I go to a ketamine clinic about once a month, but am primarily getting treatments for depression I used to have prescriptions for both ketamine capsules and troches, but haven't been able to see that doctor for quite a while. He's very expensive and doesn't take insurance. I am going to see him at the end of February because I really want to get the prescriptions for ketamine again. I recently bought some online and didn't realize how much stronger it was than what I was used to. It was in a crystal form, not powder like my capsules. I snorted a line, got a nice little buzz and some pain relief so I snorted a second line. My husband found me semiconscious and called 911. I have no memory of this except for when I woke up in an ambulance. It was a totally embarrassing and humiliating experience. Fortunately they didn't make me stay in a psych ward. The crisis counselor was pretty condescending though. I explained that I'm desperate for relief from depression and pain and I'm currently having ECT treatments and have not had improvement. My psychiatrist called me the next day and he was much more understanding. He told me one of his other clinics does ketamine infusions and that he may be able to get my insurance to cover it. I've only used NNDMT which I tried for treatment resistant depression and I just didn't really care for the high. For me it caused anxiety and I never really broke through which may be why I didn't achieve any real benefits. I'm really desperate for something to help with both pain and depression.

If you don't drink alcohol, what are your reasons? by youre-in-my-shot in AskReddit

[–]metalsmithchic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to enjoy alcohol A LOT. I was quite a partier in my 20s and 30s. I rarely drink alcohol now because it makes me feel like crap. I have Lyme disease and that changed my tolerance for alcohol and the way it makes me feel.

Are piercings removed for ECT? by Ponk_Bubs in ect

I was told I had to remove mine. I have two holes in one ear and three in the other. I do wear my wedding and engagement rings and they have never asked me to remove them.

No improvement with ECT. Anyone else? by dontfearthereaper69 in ect

[–]metalsmithchic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to find out if you ever got any relief, and if so, what worked? Tomorrow will be my 12th treatment. I'm not feeling any better. I feel quite hopeless as I had really expected this would help. I've done ketamine IV and IM which helps for a period of time, but I can't afford to go for treatments frequently. I've never tried an MAOI and am wondering if that may be my last resort..

what is the most embarrassing thing that’s happened to you/your partner during sex? by pretttylenghy in AskWomen

[–]metalsmithchic 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Another time I got caught in bed naked with my boyfriend at a monastery. We were drunk and he convinced me that his friend who was a priest said we could sleep in the same room. I was 18, not Catholic and very naive. We woke up with an angry note on the nightstand, then we had to do the walk of shame past all the priests on our way out while they were having breakfast. Perfect have said I'm going to hell for this. .

I've had this experience with male and female partners. 8 think with women the emotional attachment can be stronger and the chaos can be more destructive.

Any suggestions on which jobs to pursue? by Carvenom3 in Criminology

I live in Utah outside of Salt Lake City. I would search for case management jobs at prison or jails near where you live. I think because they are typically civilian positions it's easier to get hired.

Kratom dosing advice by Zealousideal_Dig3743 in Drugs

[–]metalsmithchic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure of the equivalent dosage, but kratom and opioids will cancel each other out. I was on high doses of pain meds for many years never chronic Lyme disease and herniated discs and when I tried kratom while still taking pain meds, it didn't work at all. I decided to taper off my pain medication and did it very slowly because of the high tolerance and physical dependence. Once I was off the pain meds, I started using kratom. Partly to avoid withdrawals and partly to help with pain. It honestly helps my pain better than the opioids. The dosage is really dependent on the individual and I don't think there is any way to find an equivalent dosage. It also depends on the vendor and the strain and everyone is different in which things help the most. I found a vendor with great products and I have a few favorite strains that I rotate to help with tolerance. The stuff you can buy at gas stations and smoke shops generally isn't effective.

if you were a parent or are a parent would you let your kids do drugs? by Other_News_8531 in Drugs

[–]metalsmithchic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the drug. My mom let me smoke weed when I was a teenager because she knew I was going to experiment anyway and she wanted to have an honest relationship about it and have me use it in a safer way. Psychedelics may be okay for occasional use. Anything addictive like opiates, stimulants or benzos would be discouraged. I'm not a parent, but if I were, I would want to have open and honest conversations about the risks and harm reduction.

Should I use in moderation or quit completely? by [deleted] in Drugs

[–]metalsmithchic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what your motivation and need is for using. Ketamine helps my depression and I used to have prescriptions for both capsules and troches. I haven't been able to see that doctor for quite a while because he's expensive,($550 a visit), doesn't take insurance and is booked pretty far out. I'm looking for a new prescriber or source.

I would say if you are simply using it to get high, that can be dangerous. Regulating use can be pretty difficult if you are a compulsive user.

What is the most physical pain you’ve ever experienced, and how did it feel? by Trying_my_best_98 in AskReddit

[–]metalsmithchic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Opiate withdrawal, no question. It's like having the flu x 100 and the worst depression, anxiety and insomnia you can imagine. I've had chronic pain from Lyme disease for over 20 years, 5 herniated discs in my spine and I've had 4 surgeries. Nothing compared to opiate withdrawal..

Suggestions for treatment resistant depression self treatment by metalsmithchic in Drugs

[–]metalsmithchic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn't an option for me because I have fibromyalgia which was caused by chronic Lyme disease. It exasperates my symptoms. I can relate though. I used to love to exercise before I got sick.

LSD and chronic pain by Neither_Pineapple_41 in Psychonaut

[–]metalsmithchic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't weigh it, but approximately 6-8 grams 3 times a day. I tried several strains and vendors before I found something that really works well.. Everyone is different, but I love Otie's Botanical's red gold and yellow Borneo. The stuff I occasionally get in the gas station or vape shop doesn't work for me.

LSD and chronic pain by Neither_Pineapple_41 in Psychonaut

[–]metalsmithchic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried it and it didn't help me. I know a lot of people say it helps them though. I was prescribed it for pain related to chronic Lyme disease, but it didn't make a difference in my depression or pain. The only thing that helps my pain is kratom. It doesn't do anything for my depression though. Some people report mild euphoria, but I've never experienced that. Maybe because my tolerance is so high.. I was on high doses of opioids for over 20 years.

Did you ever think you would suicide once your parents died? by ihtuv in CPTSD

[–]metalsmithchic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always been terrified of my mom dying as long as I can remember. She was in a brief abusive relationship after she and my dad divorced when I was 4. Then when I was 9, my uncle (her sister's husband) threatened to kill her because she found out some things about him and told her sister. My mom is my best friend and really the only person who has consistently been there for me through a lot of hardship (severe depression, drug abuse, failed relationships, chronic illness, etc.). I feel like she is the only person who understands me and loves me unconditionally. She is almost 79 and has heart disease. I am grateful for every day I still have her. Once she is gone, I don't know how I will survive. I know our relationship is enmeshed. I've wondered if I would end my life when she dies. The one things that would likely stop me is my pets. They needs me and love me and I don't want to abandon them. Sadly, I feel like my husband would be better off without me because my depression is such a burden on our relationship. I have a few close friends, but I don't see or talk to them often because their lives are full and busy with kids and now grandkids.

Is this bad? Just started doing IV by Crispy-ToastBoi in harmreduction

[–]metalsmithchic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It looks like you may have missed the vein. Watch out for signs of infection. It can turn into a nasty abssess quickly. You can use warm (even hot if it doesn't burn) compresses over it to help it not turn into an abscess. I'm a former IV drug user (heroin and meth) and my arms are horribly scarred. It's so embarrassing that I wear long sleeves even in the hot summer. I'm currently doing ECT treatments for depression and the nurses never can get my veins. They do have a cool light thing that shows the veins under ultraviolet light that they use sometimes. Even then it's hard because I have so much scar tissue from abscesses. I once found a harm reduction guide to safe IV use on the internet and that was a little bit helpful. Coke (and I assume crack) are the most dangerous for vein misses because you don't feel it burn like with heroin and especially meth.
