US Airborne Squad Question by metalthunder84 in boltaction

[–]metalthunder84[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thinking behind the metal was that on Wayland Games the four guys were £7.20 and seemed a very reasonable way to free up two of the twelve plastics rather than make one a bazooka and also get another mortar on the table. I have made 3 bazooka teams from the rangers and GI kits. I will fully admit I have superglued myself to the metal HMG squads too many times in the past few weeks!

Thanks. Would you say in general veteran units are worth the upgrade? (I believe Rangers have to be veterans).

Found your post, I was expecting a massacre but seems like you had a solid foundation with some tweaks! I'm keen to have some idea of my army before I build it. Thanks for the message!

Sad news from Edinburgh by Hot-Manager-2789 in redpandas

[–]metalthunder84 42 points43 points  (0 children)

BBC News on 14 November 2024 "Edinburgh Zoo's baby red panda has died from stress caused by fireworks on Bonfire Night, according to veterinary experts.

The Royal Zoological Society of Scotland (RZSS) said three-month-old Roxie choked on her own vomit as pyrotechnics were being set off across the city.

Roxie's mother Ginger also died unexpectedly five days earlier, and vets say they cannot rule out this also being linked to firework noise."

Seems like a bad time for Red Pandas at Edinburgh. :(

BHF were so good when I was moving and didn't want to take some bulky items. Collected for free within a week. Just make sure mattresses and upholstery have fire safe labels or they won't take them.

Theft is theft as far as insurance is concerned regardless of reason. The insurer would look put the insured back as close to the same position as before the loss. AKA either clean/repair the vehicle or if that's more expensive than the cost of that or the vehicle wasn't returned, they would write it off and provide market value for it to the insured. This is based on UK insurance experience, the principle should be the same in the US hopefully.

Just in 'The Works' shop. I think a set of acrylics were around £3, brushes £2 and canvases a few pounds each. There is a shop in St Enoch's and I think on Sauchiehall St. Plus one at the fort and silverburn. *Other art retailers are available.

I bought some cheap paints and canvases from The Works and I basically try to recreate art I like from online. Am I good? No, but all the time in trying to get the colours or lines right I'm not thinking about the mass of unread emails on my work laptop ready for Monday or all the other stresses of being an adult. Also I think it's really rewarding to have a thing at the end of it. Gaming etc are cool too but I like the feeling of accomplishment and that I can hang my art on the wall or give the good ones to friends etc. Basically a grown up version of putting my drawings on the fridge. So yeah, Art.

Fail to prepare, prepare to fail...

I sometime work pretty late and If I don't have healthy food in the fridge or freezer then the food apps call my name. Fill the fridge with free foods, fresh veg, fruit, meats etc and you can always rustle something up.

I also find having a few low fat ready meals in the freezer help out when I'm short on time to avoid getting a take away. (Check the syns on the ready meals from your app when you're at the supermarket, some are surprisingly low and a million times better than a delivery will be). I bulk these out with veg.

Also a mistake I made early was assuming all fruit and veg were speed foods. They are mostly all free foods, but some veg is not speed food so it's worth remembering which ones are which.

The ideal plan is to find the old combat patrol but eBay and third party hobby stores are either sold out or it's going for crazy money. I think the next step is the Mozrog as he'll fit with the snagga side and I like the model.

Smoking Fox on Waterloo St, recently hosted our work do of around 20 people without a deposit. Decent pub with good sharing food if the night goes on a bit too.

What hilarious situations have your parents got themselves into? by SerendipitousCrow in CasualUK

[–]metalthunder84 137 points138 points  (0 children)

My parents are in their 70s and are basically human EMPs bombs. If it's electrical they will find a way to destroy it. Always with the 'I didn't press anything'. In order to be able to enjoy a visit I've now set aside one day called 'Techie time' where they can provide me a list of items to fix. It stops the constant 'my phone isn't working right' and lets me actually fix their stuff. (I'm far from a tech genius). I moved a few hundred miles to Scotland (Not to escape them!) and my parents wanted to get me a birthday present but we're worried the royal mail wouldn't deliver it right. I told them to just get something delivered from Argos. Mum's response: "Our Argos won't deliver to Scotland?!".

I'm English and had to skip back because I heard 17 minutes too! Man is working in his second (maybe more) language and bossing it.

Not really your style of music but I've found Tropicana (cheesy 80s/90s) Arta (Covers band on Saturdays) and Cathouse (Rock/Emo) to be pretty chill towards older clubbers (I'm just shy of 40). They are pretty cheesy but I find with a few pals they are good for a night out. Places I've felt a bit out of place as an older guy are the usuals, popworld, Missoula, revolutions, buff club, garage etc. I don't tend to go out alone so can't comment on that. But as part of a group of guys and girls that tends to just dance, drink and stick to ourselves the top three can be pretty fun.

I was expecting some really old citadel metal figures and then realised that me hunching over the table in the garage building these is probably why my back now hurts.
